Still think GEPIK is a good deal? Head over to the the GEPIK group created by the original GEPIK teachers and notice how the numbers have fallen drastically in the last three years, especially after summer 2006 when so many people got the shaft, and got it hard.

Don't get me started. Just do a search (of my name) and read some of my posts about GEPIK.
Yes, you have to be a member to log on, but just look at the number of posts made in 2006 (down at the bottom of the page) and you'll get the big picture.
By the way, best sig ever ED209. Awesome! |

So because fewer people have been posting on a website that means the numbers of people in the actual PROGRAM ITSELF have gone down?
Maybe they just found somewhere else to post (like Dave's).
Or they found other stuff to do. |

Nope. that doesn't work. Your theory doesn't explain why the numbers dropped so dramatically as of Aug., when, coincidentally, everyone's second contract expired and people realized that they were being offered a raw deal. The numbers speak for themselves. As to why people quit GEPIK in droves, well, you know the deal. |

Cheers for that.
Did a search. Many tales of misery I see.
Is there a consensus on which is worst EPIK or GEPIK? |

They withdrew the paid holidays and replaced them with work camps. |

Everyone's second contract expired? Nope, that's when mine and many others began. And there are more teachers in the GEPIK program now then there were when I began it.
Probably just the complainers left.
And not every single post on there is from a different teacher. All it would take for the posts to fall dramatically is say 10 teachers each with a hundred or so posts to their name. Right there that's a 1000 or so post drop (which is bigger than the real post drop) Remember that website has been up for a couple of years or so. There are people who've been on Dave's for that long and have a post count in the thousands. A few those leave and hey presto there's your drop.

Alternatively it could be that people realized that website is monitored by GEPIK or agents of GEPIK and wanted a website where they could rant in annomity. |

I'm referring to the original 100 or so who piloted the GEPIK program, myself included. By the end of the second year (or second contract, if you like) nearly all of them had moved on because of the crap contract offered by GEPIK for the third year. In fact, and I've said this before, the entire Uijeongbu crew quit at the same time for this reason. This is reflected in the post count's dramatic drop in August. Nothing else, including the reasons you have stated, could account for such a drop.

Impossible. You can't get on (or view any posts) unless you're proven to be a teacher for GEPIK. Are you suggesting there was/is a mole? Give me break. |

How is that impossible? Who do you think set up the website? Remember you have to be proven to be a teacher for GEPIK. The only people who can verify that are the GEPIK officials. Who else would be able to do so? I'm not suggesting that it was a mole, I'm pointing out that that website has to be monitored by GEPIK as ONLY they could PROVE beyond a doubt that someone is in their program. |

Mack the Knife, you come off as whiner. So, many people who signed up two years ago have changed programs. So what?
Changing a contract AFTER it xpires is hardly "giving the shaft." If you don't like the offer, don't take it. Do stop crying.
GEPIK didn't replace paid vacations. There are still paid vacations. There are still paid periods of work when all you do is plan (assuming you don't just goof off). |

Paid vacations, more paid planning time than I can possibly use up, and a set of coworkers who are generally both collegial and professional - these are the reasons I will stick with GEPIK until it comes time for renewal and they change the contract. Then I'll think about a Uni. Or maybe a year back in the great Canadian hogwan some call the BC public education system. |

Now you're talking out of your ass. WE set up the website, dingbat. The whole show was run by GEPIK teachers. We knew exactly who was a teacher because we had a list. You weren't on the list, you weren't on the board. You aren't on the board, you can't read the posts. Plain and simple.

Jesus. So many people are talking out of their ass around here today it's starting to stink. Badly. You simply have no idea what I am talking about, or even what you are talking about.

Funny how a lot of the GEPIK people were saying the same thing until after the second year. And, like you will, they moved on. Some of us felt it would be helpful to pass certain information down the line for the noobs, but others did not agree. Whatever. As I've said time and time again, you can lead a horticulture...
