I've seen so much information about the winter camps. Is this something that is required by the school that you are employed by or is it just how you choose to spend your winter vacation?

It depends. I work in EPIK in a middle school. My school asked me if I wanted to do camps for other schools. I did them all. 8 or 9 schools, camps every weekend for almost two months. I think I was expected to do a few, but they were delighted that I did every one suggested. At the provincial level, they asked me to do a couple of camps also. Apparently I could have been required to do so, but with a surfeit of teachers, it wouldn't have been an issue if I had said no.
I think long and short is by our contract, there are certain camps they can demand. We get paid extra for them by the way...
Hope that helps.

OP - you will be working at a hagwon, right? If so, camps don't apply to you as hagwons just continue running as normal during public school vacation time. I'm sure someone somewhere knows of an exception to this, but this is generally the case.

Yes...I will be working at New Briton hagwon. So hagwons don't have winter/summer breaks?

It varies among hagwons too! Look at your contract. Some of your vacation time may be schedule around the summer and/or winter. Some hagwons have what is termed, "winter/summer intensives." Good for some overtime, but can be quite wearing. You basically cover one level of coursework in four weeks. Other hagwons do not have intensives.

Heh heh, generally, no. My schedule is the same as it was in November, except they've *added* more classes. The students are out of school, so the parents enroll them in more classes at their hagwons.
