Are there any places that let you get cash after 11pm using a DOMESTIC ATM card (not VISA or foreign card)?
I seem to recall having gotten money out really late a few times. But usually after 11 PM I'm SOL.
And anyone know why there is this silly rule anyways. I hate it. Forces me to carry mass cash with me anytime I go out in case something happens and I want to capitalize on an opportunity to pary harder etc..
But cash has a way of spending itself - more you take out, more you spend. It isn't quite the same with plastic for me.
How do you guys get around this problem? I don't have a credit card or bank card from home - severed all ties to Canada for tax safety reasons. They won't give me a Korean one (probably could get a secured credit card I guess if I put up say a 3,000,000 won bond as collateral - just never got around to looking at that option). |

A couple weeks ago I was stranded in Hongdae when I found the perfect place. In front of the "Good Morning" convenience store on the main street, there's an outdoor ATM that dispenses cash late into the night. I'm guessing because it's so ghetto that nobody uses it. |

I've heard about this but never experienced it. Definitely withdrew money well after 11pm on many occasions. |

It's weird. When you need to withdraw money, it doesn't work, such as Hongdae after midnight when you don't have enough cab fare. |

There is some sort of law that prohibits atm withdrawals after 11. It is supposed to keep korean men from acting foolish and wasting money on booze and hookers.
There was one bank that was exempt from this law and this was the bank where Korean guys had their secret ( from their wives) slush fund accounts. This was a few years ago so it may be changed now. |

I guess most men probably have credit cards so I bought that it really matters whether they can use ATMs! |

The Atms which are in the 7/11, minimart,gs25s tend to be open 24hrs, while most of the bank ones tend to close 10.30-11. If i remember correctly it is to protect the smaller country banks (how i am not sure but thats what i read) |
