Did anyone see those lame fights last night?

Pride - Fedor almost lost to Hunt(New Zealander) but he quickly turned things around and beat Hunt on the same move Hunt was trying.

I wanted Hunt(underdog). The fight didn't last long enough, Fedor is too good.

K-1 - The Korean Giant quickly disposed of the Koocki African fighter. What a joke of a fight!

Hunt is too fat!!!! He's samoan so he can't help it but you could tell that a lack of conditioning was why he came unstuck. It's weird because he is a full time pro fighter so should be in good shape regardless of mass but after 7 minutes of the first round he was out of gas.

Pride always seems a little more balanced to me. There are heavy weights fighting heavy weights and inexperienced newbies fighting inexperienced newbies.

In contrast, K-1 exhibitions often seem to involve a more experienced Asian (Japanese) fighter against a complete newbie with some extraordinary look (giant, African, tatooed fat American, etc). Whenever I have watched in the past it has always been the Asian that has won. I can't recall ever seeing anyone else win. I might be wrong of course and just had bad timing when I watched it. I can't help but think that these guys would never last in Pride. Razz

The k1 producerd like their freaks (Choi, Sapp, Butterbean, Giant Gonvalaz and a few Japanese sumo wrestlers). Its a shame because it devalues the sport of kickboxing/standup fighting.

The early UFC had a few freak matches (Hackney - 5'11', 200lbs vs Yarbourogh 6'8'' 620lbs), but this has disappeared but to the weight classes that have been introduced.

Every so often K1 has a grand-prix where there are no weight limits and Pride has exhibition matches where a small skilled martial artist goes up against a giant.

See http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e2SqIkt0E7o

Here is Sudo vs Butterbean in Pride. Go to 3:00 for the climax.
