|
|
I just heard that Borat has made 200 million dollars at the box office. I ask myself "With those kinds of earnings, why should anyone feel guilty about downloading his movie or buying a pirate dvd?"
How much profit is enough profit?
A dude I know says he feels guilty buying pirate dvds. "It just feels dirty" he says. I kinda understand how he feels but ...
I'm on the fence on this debate. But I do think people should not buy the pirated art of independent artists because without a doubt, they do get hurt by it. |

If it's easy to find and not up the ass expensive I buy the DVD. Otherwise, I download it. |

Me, too. I don't download, because I don't want to introduce viruses to my computer. |

A German dude told me that in his country, some of the downloads have government spyware hidden in them. The spyware notes your computer's ISP address and then they come after you, make you pay a huge fine or even jail you. |

It's pretty odd that you can go to HomeEver and pick up pirated new theatre-release DVD's, neatly sold as if they were not pirated. The infuriating thing is they have the nerve to gouge you for 19,000Won for a pirated movie. |

I have mixed feelings about it. My father makes his living in the film industry. And while those profits may seem outrageous, they eventually filter down to little players like my dad. But on the other hand, I like cheap stuff. |

Hmmm. I download most of the movies I watch, but if I liked it, I'll often see it in the theatre for the big-screen experience. However, seeing a brand new theatre release being sold at a big-name Korean department store kinda piss3d me off. |

I love pirate dvds. Pirates of the carribean, Hook, Captain Blood, ... sorry I'll stop.
I never buy pirated dvds since the quality sucks. Some guy sitting in a cinema with a shaky-cam eating popcorn and laughing along as shadows pop up to block the screen. If I download a bad quality movie I'm not out of pocket.
If the movie industry wants its money then it should join up with the ISPs and get a slice of their profits since they are the ones raking in the cash. |

I've kinda stopped going to the cinema because I'm sick of sitting with people who take in fast food and talk the whole way through.
A cinema is not your home......
Not much variety in Korean theatres anyway and I'm not paying 20k for a movie. It's not the same as a music cd at all
Pirate dvds,no great qualms about that.Might try to pick up The Departed this week. |

I buy movies if they're worth watching on the large screen (ie. projector). The last movie I bought was actually SHIRI, a korean action flick. Now that FullHD movies are here, it is much more convenient to buy or better still rent them from a store than to wait 1 or 2 weeks for the same movies to finish downloading. Each HD movie is about 10-18GB in size!
Otherwise if I just want to sample some movies then it would be way cheaper to download them off the net. |
