Sometimes I feel this board has its share of anti-Semites.
Why? Look at some of the posts excusing the behavior of the wacky Muslims.
Some posters even go so far as to celebrate the president of Iran as some kind of hero.
Kind of makes me shake my head.
So answer two questions truthfully:
Do you believe the Jews should be run out of the Middle East?
Do you believe the Holocaust actually happened? Or do you think the Holocaust was exagerated? |

I think most people here are too busy slagging off Koreans to notice the Jews. |

It was most definitely exaggerated but that's neither here nor there as pertains to the Jewish state...Isreal is not going anywhere! |

It could be argued that statistically, the Holocaust had little to no impact on the lives of the majority of the global population.
60% of the world's population is Asian.
14% of the world's population is African.
11% of the world's population is European.
Less than 0.3% of the world's population is Jewish.
So many Asian and Islamic academics view the Holocaust as an exclusively regional incident. I would argue that most Asians and Africans would not even be aware that it happened.
Based on that, it is difficult to justify the historical weight and high profile that many attach to it.
Few westerners are prepared to remove themselves from their anglosphere bias' to examine the issue with the fearlessness and level scientific inquiry required to make an honest assessment.

Partly.
There is a desperate need for a secular state in the current territory of Israel and Palestine.
One created on the basis of a multi-cultural identity, socialism, the shared values of all persons and the free movement of people across borders with the right to settle. |

^Went in 1991 while on a 4 mo research trip through Europe researching this very topic. Many Jews died as a result of sickness while in captivity, many others survived...can't really claim they were purposely killed. For example, if 10 of us teachers were thrown in a N-Korean prison camp and 5 died from a disease and the remainder survived and were liberated, you wouldn't say that the Nappa-K's killed them, would you? |

I don't understand your logic.
So if I hold you prisoner and I forgot to feed you food for 1 year, then I am not in anyway responsible?
Am I reading this right? |

Yes, there are anti-semetics on this board, but also many that bash Middle Eastern people as well. I find both in extremely bad taste. |

I think what Spliff is trying to say--if I may be so bold--is this:
I Freaking Hate Jews. Now Get Off My Back! |

I don't think Spliff is an anti-Israeli or anti-Jewish poster actually, O.

Certainly not! But it'd be nice if the Americans gave the Israelis a kick up the arse which they've deserved since 1967. The Yanks are the boss - not the reverse. If the US was under the autocratic rule of SPIN, I'd end all financial and military support to Israel. It's a big boy now and can handle itself. There are far worthier causes of US billions than Israel - America perhaps?

I know it happened.

I don't know.
P.S. I support anti-democratic policies that have complete lack of toleration for religion. The Commies had some good ideas on that score - godless state religion. Good stuff in my opinion. |

Glad someone here understands me. I am a neo-con and an ABSOLUTE supporter of the GREAT state of Israel!!!! Hell, half the people/friends in my neighborhood back home are Joooooos. If it was up to me I'd see the Islamofascists neutroned! I just know for a fact that the Holocaust figures are jumbled..it was partly done as a excuse for starting the state of Israel by the Pommies and the USofA.
Markhan...didn't say in my analogy that they weren't fed...said they succumbed to an illness. You have to consider what a dilemma this was for the Germans as these people were meant to work in the Reich's factories...they hadn't considered how things would quickly deteriorate once the tide turned against them. |

I think the historical weight and high profile that is attached to it is due to the fact that it was an attempt at genocide that happened in a developed country in the 20th century.
Modern man can accept barbarous acts that happened in the past or that happen in parts of the world we consider to be uncivilised but it is a huge shock to our psyche and self image to have to accept that this attempt at genocide was planned, permitted and perpetrated by educated, modern, civilised people.
It gives us an insight into the darkest side of human nature and shocks us to our very core. |

1) There's no point in crying over spilt milk. The British and Americans, didn't know what kind of headache they were getting themselves into, when they set up the state of Israel. Having said that, I don't think it would be right to run Israel out of the middle east, as you would displace a large amount of people.
2) I believe the Holocaust happened. Do I believe the Holocaust was exaggerated? Yes, I do. I mean that it has been given more attention than attrocities that took place in Rwanda, Cambodia, East Timor, former U.S.S.R, etc. Part of the reason these countries are neglecated, is based in part, on the logic outlined by Grimalkin. People from the countries aforementioned, are considered inferior, or less worthy of interest for one reason or another.
Attempted genocide, and attrocities against humanity, have happened and will continue to happen. Most people are content to focus on the Holocaust, because it happened a long time ago, and they don't really have to do anything. After all, it's not likely, that the Nazis are going to make a comeback is it. |
