I might find those photos a bit more damning if I didn't come from a country where, a few years ago, the Prime Minister walked into a crowd made up largely of schoolkids, grabbed a protestor by the neck, and threw the guy a few feet, requiring him to seek medical treatment afterwards. The PM was wearing dark shades and a black overcoat, and the photos of the incident look like something out of Quentin Tarantino. The protestor elected not to press charges, but the general feeling was that he would've had a good case. |

The majority of Canadians were proud of the PM- I'm surprised he hasn't tried the same thing during recent election campaigns. The "victim" wasn't some dumbfounded innocent bystander: he was a "professional protester" who gave up a $400/week job to go on welfare so he could spend more time on his "causes". Most importantly, he made physical contact w/ the PM first, which constitutes assault. I'm sure as hell no Chretien fan, for the record.... |
