Where can I get Thai Baht I went to couple Banks that were foreign exchange they had no Thai Baht. Where the heck do you get some.. I'm not sure If I can get any at the airport because my flight leaves at 7 am..

BTW I am in Changwon.

I'm so jealous! I just arrived in my freezing apartment after flying back from Bangkok today.

I should imagine that you can change your money at the airport, even at that time. If not, then you can definately change it in arrivals at Bangkok airport.

When I went to Thailand from Korea, I found that the only place I could get Baht was at the Bureaux de Change at Incheon. I think they open at 5am, so if you are super quick you might be able to get some before you get your flight.

Can't see why you would want to buy baht here as you'll get a shit rate and the exchanges at Bangers airport are open 24/7. Don't sweat it dude. But, if you can't speak Thai see how fast you're gonna be separated from your baht! Very Happy

US $ are good. Exchange rates are set daily. No need to get ripped off. I wouldn't bring Korean won anywhere. Made the mistake once of bringing Taiwanese dollars to Thailand, lost a fair bit on exchange with that crappy currency.

How about using a International Korean debit card at an ATM? In that case, is the exchance rate better than the U.S dollar, or is it the same as the crappy Korean rate quoted above?

I went to Thailand over Christmas and didn't realize until after we changed our won into baht at Incheon what a crappy exchange rate we got. We got around 28B for 1000W. When we met up with our friends in Thailand and found out they got 33B for $1 Canadian we were even more confused(won is worth more than Canadian dollars so how did we end up getting less).

Anyways, I'm planning a trip back in February and wanted to confirm if this is the best way to get a good exchange rate. Should I change my won into US dollars at Incheon and then change it upon arrival in Thailand? This seems to be the best way of getting a good rate. As well, if I did do this, couldn't I then just change my won into US dollars at Incheon and then change it again into Baht(at Incheon)?

The market rate is quoted as 38 Thai Baht per 1,000 Korean Won.

It is an unusual situation, but it is clearly better not to change directly from Won into Thai baht, in both Korea and Thailand the exchange rate is about 29-30. If you must deal in cash, I recommend you change first to US dollars (or Euros) in Korea and then change the dollars (or Euros) into Baht once in Thailand, you will net an exchange rate of about 36 this way. To get the rate closer to 38 you must use a non-cash method of exchange.
