Anyone had to do this before? My new passport gets here in a week or so and I am wondering what the process is down at immigration. |

Yep, same thing happened to me a couple of years ago.
Just nip down there with both passports and they re-stamp your visa in the new passport. I think it was free, and only took a few minutes. |

Is this for an E2???
A few years back I left on my old passport and returned 2 weeks later on a new passport. There was no visa transfer as such, but I did carry both passports with me to be on the safeside. I think once you get your ARC, that is considered your 'visa', with your passport number simply changing in their database next time you visit/pass through immigration.
Hope this helps.

No. That's wrong. You are supposed to register your change of passport with immigration within 14 days or you become subject to a fine. It's a quick and moneyless process, just bring in your old passport, new passport and arc card. Also you maybe requested to show your old passport with the visa stamp in it when you leave the country, however depending on how the offical is feeling at the time it's not such a big deal if you don't have it. |

No, for me it was a D8.
But be clear: the ARC is your residence/work permit. The visa in the passport is your "permission to (re-)enter. |
