Can't we just send all world religious leaders to Iraq with a slingshot and a hockey helmet! The world would be so much better if there were no religion.
Robertson predicts 'mass killing' Tue Jan 2, 6:29 PM ET
In what has become an annual tradition of prognostications, religious broadcaster Pat Robertson predicted Tuesday that a terrorist attack on the United States would result in "mass killing" late in 2007.
"I'm not necessarily saying it's going to be nuclear," he said during his news-and-talk television show "The 700 Club" on the Christian Broadcasting Network. "The Lord didn't say nuclear. But I do believe it will be something like that."
Robertson said God told him during a recent prayer retreat that major cities and possibly millions of people will be affected by the attack, which should take place sometime after September.
Robertson said God also told him that the U.S. only feigns friendship with Israel and that U.S. policies are pushing Israel toward "national suicide
Robertson suggested in January 2006 that God punished then-Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon with a stroke for ceding Israeli-controlled land to the Palestinians.
The broadcaster predicted in January 2004 that President Bush would easily win re-election. Bush won 51 percent of the vote that fall, beating Democratic Sen. John Kerry of Massachusetts. He also predicted Bush's victory for a second term in 2005.
"I have a relatively good track record," he said. "Sometimes I miss."
In May, Robertson said God told him that storms and possibly a tsunami were to crash into America's coastline in 2006. Even though the U.S. was not hit with a tsunami, Robertson on Tuesday cited last spring's heavy rains and flooding in New England as partly fulfilling the prediction.

In fairness, making supposedly supernatural-based claims about future events is not confined to religion. Self-proclaimed psychics do it all the time in supermarket tabloids, for instance. |

True but it doesn't usually start with "God, Allah, Buddah told me...." |

True. But I don't see how "the visions in my head told me" is any more rational. |

But in your second post on this thread, you seem to attach some significance to the fact that Robertson and his ilk, unlike the tabloid psychics, claim to be getting their messages from deities. |

Robertson is barely a mammal. I can't understand why people keep listening to the guy. |

Yes, hence the title "Another reason why religion is so F'd." Whether it be a psychic or some religious moron, it's all crap. What pisses me off is that he says "god spoke to him" and all the moronic pinhead followers believe him and send him money. |

The difference between Robertson and tabloid psychics is that millions of people tune in to Robertson and hang on his every word, then they go out and vote and influence public policy as God has instructed through Robertson. |

A nuclear device/dirty bomb attack on the US has been in the offing for some time now. Really would'nt surprise me.
if the war in iraq begins to turn in our favor I think such an attack is quite likely. |

His moronic pinhead followers, not all 5+ billion people on earth who have religious belief of some kind. Just a leeeetle chip on your shoulder about this?

Fair enough, but political analysis should be able to tell us that, not the voice of Morgan Freeman. |

I wonder what the outcome would be of a nuke terror attack on US soil as far as our response goes...
Such would get ugly. |
