A friend (female of course) had a great tip for your kitchken sink's gunk bucket... you know that bucket strainer that catches all the gunk and it quickly fills up with the most disgusting stuff and it's always a messy pain in the ass to dump 'n' clean?

Well, make a little "condom" out of your pantyhose or old sock, put it in your gunk bucket, and then when it gets filled, just pull it out and toss.

The best thing about this double-entendre is that it's totally accidental.

So I'm not much for candles and romantic talk in the sack... Smile Sometimes you gotta treat a lady like the gunk bucket she is.

Shouldn't you be putting that stuff in the "food garbage" though?

Agreed.

I use rubber gloves... and I have a cleaner - that's KEY. Get a cleaner!

Instead of messing with those plastic things, look around in the kitchen department of E-mart, Homever or Lotte and find a...well...for lack of a better word, I'll call it a "drain screen". It's a circle of metal with a metal mesh basket....SOOO much easier to use, dump and clean!!

What happens if you don't use that plastic screen at all and just let everything go down the drain?

You should write tips for "That's Life" magazine. They love that kind of thing.

My own plastic-thing-in-the-plug-hole gets a bit stinky sometimes so I just get a new one from the rat shop down the road - 800 won a piece. Job done and no cleverness required.

In my experience, the gunk will slowly add up and slow down the water flow... no problemo, just pour some draino in.

Of course, the buildup of gunk may start to rot and stink up your place, but you'll save the trouble of buying a metal drain screen.

I'm too anal retentive. Unless the cleaner is a perfectionist, I think I'm better off doing it myself! I wish I weren't like that... Confused

That's what i do and have never had a clog. If I did get a clog I'd simply get out the ole plunger and sort it..

I tried that myself. Check your pipe. Odds are its just a narrow hose running into the mysterious ether zone in your floor. Eventually something will get down that hose that plugs it up good. And then it's drano and a plunger and a lot of dirty elbow grease. (What do they call drano here? Pumcil or something?) It's easier to deal with the gunk bucket.

I like the sock idea myself, although I did get a shallow screen/stainer like we have back in North America. The sock/gunk bucket just make a good back up as the strainer is not a perfect fit.
