I love seeing articles where Koreans slip and say something human without Confucian censorship. Dig this article on a famous(?) talk show host who said alittle too much on a talk show. The article came from the Chosun Ilbo digital site.
Chat Show Host Owns Up to Porn Habit
The former KBS presenter Kang Su-jung confessed to a transgressive side on a late night chat show on SBS on Monday, when she admitted she started watching lewd videos when she was in third grade. Kang said she watched, out of curiosity, a video that a friend's parents had bought overseas and then started watching more. Her co-presenter on the show, Kang Ho-dong, asked her, "You were precocious, weren't you?" She responded, "I was 160 cm tall at the time and was mature enough to attract even junior high school boys, who had a big crush on me." Insiders reported that Kang kindly advised the male celebrities who appeared on the show how to store their porn safely. When Kang Ho-dong teased her saying, "Women whose family name is Kang are very wilful," she shot back, "Men whose family name is Kang are very narrow-minded." |

As hot as this article is, I find myself fearing someday our countries might fall prey to this Confucianist censorship. We all come from countries where you can speak your mind on a public medium and not get censored; I'd hate to see that change. |

sometimes I wish nobody had ever introduced the idea of confucianism to the expat community in Korea. Mentioning it is such a cheap shortcut around having actual insight into this culture. |

...how so? I don't think it's a cheap shortcut at all; that's like saying the Bill of Rights has no *actual* impact on American culture. Come on. |

I guess this would be important if the average white guy here actually gave a rat's anus about this culture. I mean really...who actually wants insight into their culture.....just insight into their wallets... |

Because I seriously doubt that there are more than half a dozen people here that have actually read 논어, 맹자, 대학 and 중용.
BTW, the better racing girls link is here. And it has...oh my, over 28,000 hits. It still needs more pictures though. |

hungabunga to that brother. Check out her IQ every now and then too just to make sure she doesn't get smart enough to ask what happens when you walk outside the bar.

Indeed. President Park gives her the seal of approval as well. |

It's not about the reading of the text; it's the social circle thing that I think most foreigners are alluding to. It's a tenet of Confucianism and it vastly affects social relationships here...what's wrong with pointing it out? It's just like how, although most Americans, sadly, wouldn't know the exact tenets of the bill of rights, it's what's made us loud-mouthed, materialistic, get-off-of-my-property-or-I'll-shoot @ssholes we are today. |
