...as to why the thread I posted in Job-Related Forum was deleted. From what I can see, there's absolutely nothing wrong with what I posted. Just said:
Saw the following posted in Seoul Craigslist. Brutal! Why would anyone want to waste their time for that little?
ENGLISH: private lessons 12,000 won/hour |

Maybe. I have no idea. It's not like there hasn't been any threads on privates before, and it's not like I'm advertising for students on this website. The person that posted the ad also said that they would be willing to travel anywhere within Seoul...all for 12,000 won. Talk about desperate. |

I got the most laughable offer for privates from a Korean businessman I know.
150k for one month, 6 hours per week. I pointed out politely that this worked out to an hourly rate of approx 6,000 and he said "yes but that's what it'd cost at a hagwon".
Of course, I replied that hagwons have many customers, not just one, and if you wanna have your kid recieve complete attention, illegally at that, from a teacher, it's gonna cost at least 5 times that amount...and that this is rudimentary common sense.
It was like talking to a brick wall. I saw to it that he was soundly thrashed. |

Never heard of a hagwon that cheap. Leave it to Koreans to try and screw you over. |

a friend of someone i know offered me 20,000 per hour for specialised MBA interview lessons. a pretty low offer- and then i found out that his dad happens to own a company that is listed on the KOSDAQ! needless to say, i won't be taking him up on it.
can't beat yours though, spinoza.. 6,000 indeed! |

The answer is to do your privates in Gangnam. The stupid rich twits there feel embarrassed to offer anything less than 50,000 per hour!! That's how to make 'new-money' snobbery work for YOU!! |
