More likely you were remembering a flight somewhere else.

My guess is that he noticed that the time when he arrived in Osaka was about one hour later than the time he left Korea - hence, "one hour time difference!" The pilot story is most likely fantasy.

Typical of that arrogant asshole to make up someone to blame his own idiocy on.

Even if one were to take him at his word, it still would not explain how he never managed to discover the error subsequently.

But what we do know for sure, however is that cuthbert here is a pitiful little racist who has made grotesquely hateful, conceited statements glorifying the holocaust...

Isn't that right doggy.

No.

But even Hitler knew how to tell time.

Actually, he might not be wrong. Korea doesn't adjust its time twice a year...but does Japan?

And since when have you or any other poster on this forum throughout history, ever admitted being wrong?

We're still waiting.

When have I or any other poster on this forum throughout history ever made such an egregious error with such humiliating implications about such an elementary fact?

Interesting that some places are half an hour off. Did you know, for instance, that Newfoundland is half an hour later than Labrador ? (West coast baseball would often start at midnite)

I tend to burst their bubble politely and will even go along with a few unimportant lies if it means saving face and preserving their dignity.

I mean for example, I have several adult students who insist that Seoul is in the same time zone as Japan. "So why do I have to alter my watch by an hour every time I fly to Osaka? i ask. They look really awkward, so I just agree. Yes, yes..you're probably right, ok. Then change the subject.

A 30-something yr old Korean woman the other day told me proudly Korea has 4 distinct seasons!

And so does most of Europe`, I said quietly. I really hated to say this because she was so nice. You could see the quizzical glimmer of shock.
After pressing me for confirmation, she was even more amazed to discover later that its called "the temperate zone"- ie a vast swathe of the earths geographical area experiences 4 distinct seasons! awesome. Oh dear, I guess that was overkill..oops.

You rule!

Tell her that so-called blacks and so-called whites do not have to go poop -ever! That'd blow her mind, eh (this one was made up, I think, by another poster back in July-August, 2003 to K-pupils)

lol wtf.

here d00d. rofl

http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=pwned

In the urban dictionary definition of "pwned", entries 1-4 held that it was a typo misspelling of "owned" from either online Warcraft or Quake.

Entry 5 is a classic!

Quote:
PWNED:
Created in 1972 by the 3rd SOG (Special Operations Group) when a Lt. Colonel Hank Munro shot a Vietnamese sentry with a Mk22 Hush Puppy. Due to the tension at the time, he inadvertantly said "pwned" instead of "Delta, move in and eliminate all hostiles." The subsequent death of Lt. Col. Munro as he charged a heavily fortified position lead to the term "pwned" being adopted as short-hand for "that dumbass just got his ass whupped in a helluva funny way."

Yeah, I wonder what was funny about a nonword being used as if it was one?

by the way, a near decade abroad can put you out of touch sometimes...

Finding it harder to relate to newer arrivals talking about 'The Screaming Blue Monkeys' and their latest great music... then they look at you like you're nuts 'cause you don't know this band is so big in america now, since 2002 Dude!

and some of them think it's so wild you can read Hangul and order inrestaurants...

is there such a thing as a "restraining order" for internet message boards?

I mean if every time you post, the same idiot pops up trying to get revenge for a loss of face incident a long time ago?

Should i just agree with whatever he says and let him have his dignity back? or should that be his mummys job, to comfort and console him?

On many sites using this software you can turn on the ignore function, but it seems not to have been implemented by the admin here.

h

That is a function of paid vBoard forums, not free phpbb or phpbb2 boards such as this one.
