"The Philippines has yielded to pressure from Washington over custody of a US marine who raped a Filipina, transferring him to the American embassy in Manila.
Officials and the US embassy spokesman said Lance-Corporal Daniel Smith was taken from a jail in the capital late on Friday.
The 21-one-year-old was sent to a jail in Manila by a local court on December 4, a move that has strained relations with Washington."

Octavius:
What does your frolic lifestyle in Thailand include? The new government doesn't want farangs to frolic there any more? Are you willing to abide by the rules as you demanded in such a draconian manner of others?
nautilus:
Your first post on this thread is dead on the mark.
And remember, all: most of these American soldiers are just out of high school. That doesn't justify rape but when you have tens of thousands posted in the boondocks getting few chances at entertainment, sh*it will happen sometimes. That's the law of averages, not the jungle. |

| I frolic where I am allowed to frolic, and as far as I heard gay bathhouses weren't off limits. Us gay guys don't have to pay for sex. |

Oh, I see. Yes, gay promiscuity permits free sex on demand.
And please thank the gay community for spreading HIV to the world. |

| Only if you thank Reagan for sticking his head in the sand for almost ten years allowing the disease to spread out of control, when there was a small chance of stopping it. And if homophobes like you dind't sneak off to bathhouses and have unprotected sex and then go home to their wives, the disease might not have gone over to the "straight" side, but probably not. |

HIV began to break in 1981 when Reagan first entered office and, regardless, the federal government isn't responsible for the degenerate behavior of the gay community at that time. I'm not a homophobe; I'm just disgusted by the reckless behavior of so many in that community back then and the insistence on defiling the institution of marriage. Their level of promiscuity was rampant.
Reagan has been a scapegoat for the lack of leadership in the gay activist movement at that time. |

Nice try, but alot of the blame lies with Reagan and his administration. They knew about HIV in 1981 and by 1984 they knew it was out of control yet the did nothing. Not only did they do nothing, they activiley used their power to subvert any attempt by people trying to make a difference. They denied money and other resources to the people who could make a difference in the fight. Reagan didn't make a serious public speech about until 1986, 1986!
It wasn't until hetero's had spread the disease far and wide that the government could no longer deny it's ability to pass to all people. If you hetero's could use condoms and stop injecting drugs we wouldn't have this problem. |

Octavius:
Oh, yeah right, those heteros are the main culprits--far more promiscuous and less cautious than the gays and more likely to indulge in drugs. Yeah, and the San Fran gay community acts in a consistently highly responsible manner.
Put that don--I mean--bong away, Hite.
The Reagan Administration wasn't the only one in the dark about the HIV crisis in those early years. Your charge of malevolent neglect has been made before by many a bitter gay and has been highly contested, so I'm not about to waste my time on it anymore than I would hope to convince regicide that JFK was not the victim of a conspiracy. |

Octavius:
My criticism was levied against those gays whose rampant, reckless behavior spurred the spread of HIV in the U.S. and elsewhere. So telling me more heteros have it now is pointless. One would expect as much given the relative difference in populations, genius.
On a different subject, I notice that you post a casualty count from Iraq. Pretty tacky. War is hell and civilians get killed, especially when you have terrorists with Syrian and Iranian backing fueling the flames. The civil war between Sunnis and Shi'ites was inevitable in the power vacuum left by Saddam's departure. But from the comfort of your home in Korea I suppose you would deny these people a chance at freedom and let them go on living under a brutal dictator wielding arbitrary and capricious powers?
Keep gazing at your navel, Hite. |

| One more thing Steve, although debating with people like you makes me feel icky, do you blame the soldiers of WWI for bring back and spreading the 1918 flu epidemic. Much like HIV, a sole group was responisible (in the initial stages because of their "lifestyle") for bringing the flu back to America and facilitating its spread amongst the civilian population. Now where's your scorn for those disgusting people, and yes I realize that the 1918 flu epidemic is not that relevant today except for its similarities to the HIV pandemic. |

How can you equate disease unavoidably acquired in trench warfare to willful, animalistic sexual behavior? What a stretch. Even some gay advocates admit that the behavior of many of their own during that period was disgusting and contributed to the spread of HIV immensely.
Now get on a jet to Bangkok and grab yourself an underage katoey boy toy before the junta crackdown makes it more difficult. |

| Many people in 1914-1918 opposed the Great War and called those men barbarians. Now you crawl back into your hole. |
