You have to remember that What the book is owned by one of us. His prices are competitive, the service is excellent, and he delivers for free. I always look there first. If he doesn't have it and I don't want to order it new from him than I will search other places. Kyobo has a horrible selection. The store in the coex has a good selection but not of hardbacks. There is a decent selection at Yongsan base and Camp Casey(dongducheon) video stores but you need a buddy for that. We should always try to give our business to one of our own trying to make it in a foreigner unfriendly market.

Firstly, what's so special about hardbacks?

Secondly, teachers don't earn a lot of money nor do they have the space and time to be buying books left and right. Why make books especially second hand ones so expensive? (I was astounded when I saw the prices for the Lonely Planet books). This reminds me of the very thing most of us complain about when e-mart or homever jack up the prices of foreign goods. Nobody is helping us foreigners.

Back home, old books are like 50 cents to a dollar. The Korean book store around my place sells English novels and documentaries for $2.

Download books and have them printed at a local print shop. The charges are insignificant and they will even bind it all for you into a proper book. Take the files in on a flash drive or CD and they will have it ready the same day.
