As far as stories, let us take JFK. It is 30 years old

Actually, it's 43+ years...but who's counting.

Well - in the interests of more variety - I've done my bit: http://www.eslcafe.com/forums/korea/viewtopic.php?t=75328

As you may recall, not too long ago we had a dialogue with our friendly neighborhood mods. The issue of self-policing was brought up, and I feel the time is appropos for just that:

Individual posters should limit new topics to one or two per day at the max unless there's some astonishingly exceptional reason to do otherwise.

If at all possible, try to add breaking news/new developments to pre-existing threads that already deal with the same topic rather than starting a new thread every time you see something in the news.

I won't name names, but I will say that I think more than just a single poster is guilty of the above.

Moreover, I'm not a mod nor do I have any authority to tell others what to do. As such, I'd just like to:

a) point out that I think a lot of potentially interesting threads are getting buried by excessive posting of new unnecessary threads and discussion is also being cut short because of topics sinking to page 2 faster than a prom dress.

b) ask anyone who agrees with me to chime in here and make their feelings known.

Lastly, I don't think anyone is spamming for malicious reasons, so I don't mean to offend.

Thank you for listening.

Why don't you become a mod?

I popped on here yesterday and saw the Spam Wars...

At first, I was wondering what the hell was going on. Gopher making BS posts? That's unlike him. Then, I thought, "Maybe the Spam Wars was a filibuster." By that, I meant people were posting pointless topics in order to push other topics *cough* Regicide *cough* off the front page.

Either way, glad to see that we're getting our acts together.

Just please don't spam the board.

I think the board liveliness corresponds to liveliness in the general media. Winter recess is just coming to a finish.

If you're bored, go to Off-topic and share your favorite concert experience. Compare Phish to the Grateful Dead. Flag posts that should be over here in CE (some people fear this forum). That's what I do.

Happy New Year.

Points well taken, and happy Neu Jahre to you too, mein freund, mon ami.

I never really noticed a problem with the amount of new posts anyone is making in the 3 odd years I've been here. Sometimes I'd wish RR would collect his "we're under paid" rants under one single thread and that guy who has 3 JFK conspiracy threads going is a bit funny, but nothing in that bothers me or makes using this message board difficult.
