It was recorded by a guy from the band MR27. If you nose around this site

you can find all sorts of stuff from back then.
Korea's music scene had a lot of potential in the '60s. Park Junghee destroyed it in order to maintain power, but if he didn't then Korea would've been a musical force equal to Japan today. |
Thanks for the link, by the way. More proof of what I've always felt about Korean music: there were and are some world class musicians in Korea...Problem is, you just wouldn't know it by watching TV and listening to the radio.
This song is so Serge Gainsbourg-like. 김추자...잊어야 한다면 |
Yeah. I've met great Korean musicians here and there but the pop scene in Korea is so absolute. Alternative musicians don't get a look in except for some young punks now and then. It's a shame. Korea has it's 60's and 70's musicians but they are seen as timepieces here. Very unfashionable. They aren't relevent in todays pop culture. |
Yeah, like the guy I knew. He told me when he was younger he tried to be like Bob Dylan (using folk music as a tool for social activism). It seemed to me that he had succeeded up to a certain point but ,unlike Bob Dylan, his songs aren't remembered and consequently he got little respect or financial reward for it. |

love the blog, Racetraiter. Predictably, I'm in love with the older stuff.
Pimp - Type O have a new album coming out in early 2007. Visit typeonegative.net. Most metal is blown away by Type O if you want my opinion. |

| I found out recently my mother-in-law is friends with Shin Joong-hyun's wife. He was in prison in the '70s, around the same time as my father-in-law. |

I can't help but find Korean rock and punk musically, very conservative.
Korea doesn't have an equivalent to TMGE(Japan),Fugazi(US),Bailter Space(NZ),The Fall(UK).
Dynamic Korea?Not even on a non-mainstream level. |

I can post their MySpace pages, which have songs to listen to.
The Geeks are Korea's first straight-edge band. They're about to do a Europe/US tour.

Here's 13 Steps, Cheongju's best hardcore band.
http://www.myspace.com/13steps
Here's Join the Circle, which is Uberscheisse's band.

For some variety, because I'm not much of a hardcore fan, here's Galaxy Express.
http://www.myspace.com/galaxyrocknroll
Also most of the pogo punk bands here are pretty out there, especially the infamous Couch. I also enjoy Buster, Angry Fists, and Bad Idols. |
