Actually, most of Phish's lyrics were by Tom Marshall.

Wasn't part of Phish's first album, Junta, Trey's university thesis?
Someone told me that once.

Trey's university thesis are all the songs in the "Gamehenge" series. So,

Divided Sky, Lizards, Tela, Wilson, AC/DC Bag, Colonel Forbin's, Famous Mockingbird (one of my favorite songs), Sloth, Possum, McGrupp, and PYITE.

There is also a lot of narration between the songs.

I sold cigarettes outside a Spring '95 Dead show in Charlotte.

I like both bands, but, IMHO, the parking lot outside the Dead show was more interesting than the actual Phish show.

I basically saw the Phish crowd as a subset of the greater Greatful Dead legion.

I still kick myself for not catching that Ottawa show that summer. Heard of them, tickets were available, called everyone I knew, no takers. Should have gone alone cause as it turned out some of my Uni friends were doing a little following of Phish that summer. My Phish-Head buddy says they played a tune there and had not played it for another 7 years after that night. In Ottawa for crying out loud!?

The parking lot scene at the Dead shows are pretty good. Even on the inside there is so much going around. The Dead are just one of those "if you been you know, and if you haven't your missing out!" It almost like Korea in the sense of when your friends at home ask you "whats korea like" and you cant explain it, cause they got to see it for themselves. That is what a Dead Show was like. Those who have been, would you agree?

GD - Caught one show at Buckeye lake, Ohio 1994

The parking lot is a field. The venue itself -- is a field. How many people does the place hold? Deadbase claims 40,000. My guess is closer to 60,000 were inside the venue, and many MANY more parked in the lots surrounding the "theater."

After Trey's recent arrest I'm hoping he cleans up his act and the boys get back together. Some of the best moments of my life were during Phish Tour.

I listened to Dead in high school, and remember clearly the day Jerry died. My mom called me up at college, and asked if I had heard who died? Without having a clue my mouth mummured, Jerry Garcia? And before she answered, I knew. It was kind of freaky.

But Phish is good too, I just disliked Phish b/c all my friends who jumped on the dead bandwagon way after I did, left the dead once Jerry died and starting touring with Phish. I was upset and taken back by that, that I kind of said, F U Phish, not me, I'm sticking with the Dead. But the times I heard them at friends house, no doubt they are sick, but there's nothing like the Grateful Dead.
