Hey shifter... I thought you would have appreciated those lines, because I've seen a couple of Hicks clips and I was imitating his style of humour in the clips I saw.

Maybe that was too subtle for you and you just didn't "get it."

I'm sure the world would be a worse place if you drank drano. LOL at people taking me literally and calling me boorish.

That rules!

He called Demaphobe boorish, your ego is messing with your reading comphrension

The problem with Hicks for alot of people is they're not getting that he is trying trying to tell you something while at the sametime as being funny. It bounces off alot of peoples heads or some people just don't get it or like it. I like him cause its comedy that challenges which I think we need more of. It shocking how much of his political material you could just change a couple names and insert into todays world and youd never know it was from 15 years ago.

Wow. Deep man....real deep.

Here I was thinking that Hicks' 'comedy' was for the challenged.

A vulgar gasbag. I certainly don't find his 'comedy' to be intellectual or stimulating; banal or crass would be more accurate. He is funny in the same way that some find poo funny.

Russel Peters, Ricky Gervais, Steven Wright, Jon Stewart, Stephen Colbert; these are not only funny men, but insightful and witty.

I just watched about 40 minutes of Russell Peters on Youtube and, while he made me laugh, his comedy seemed largely harmless. Where can I find some of his more 'insightful' work?

Bill Hicks - and perhaps it's unfair to compare - was at times dangerous to the so-called established order of the world. I think Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert fall into that 'dangerous' category as well. I can enjoy a guy like Peters, but for my money I'll take the likes of Richard Pryor, Lenny Bruce, and, yes, Bill Hicks.

A couple classics:

Gays in the Military

Patriotism

Of course, it's all a matter of preference, too.

The fact that boorish idiots like Demophobe didn't get it should tell you something about his humor. It's not necessarily obvious humor all the time, and a lot of the references are hard to understand.

quimmy, I realize I am a large point of reference in your little world, but please, try to find your own way.

Now, I watched some more clips, and I stand by what I said. And it's not about "not getting him"; I just don't think he's funny. He's kind of pathetic to me; a tragic, bitter little man.

Birds of a feather, quimmy.

Russel Peters? Yeah, he's just funny. Not deep or dangerous, just humorous.

"He's kind of pathetic to me; a tragic, bitter little man" - but at least he stood up and said it!

exhibiting the same qualities on an internet message board - now that takes guts!

Hicks is wonderful.

Not only is Rant in E Minor good, but so is Arizona Bay. And if you are a Tool fan, you can learn what helped inspire the song Aenima.

I love him, but have showed his stuff to friends who feel the same way you do jajdude. I love his creativeness and originality. His story of the anti-christ and Rush Limbaugh are crude and funny at the same time. If you have time Jajdude I would try to watch a complete set like Sane Man or the infamous losing it in Chicago. Sane Man will give you a good idea of what he is like or the Chicago Funny Farm is fast paced. Agree with Qinella you have to watch or listen to a complete set to truely appreciate him.

Chicago Funny Farm: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bm9HbC9LsTM&mode=related&search=

Sane Man: First part, just click on the side under related and go in order.

Infamous Losing it at Chicago: This is the first video you can see the continuation on the side under infamous losing it.

Too pretentious. I don't want to hear standup crossed with Deepak Chopra. Some good monologues though.
