You complained that I too easily dismissed "a very old and settled culture."

Please be a little more academically rigorous. How can you compare the 16th and 20th centuries? Further, I would suggest that atleast Mexico has a mestizo culture. America wouldn't even breed , marry, treat its natives with a semblance of "humaness".
Further, America does have a BIG problem with Mexico. America treats the "other' never with superiority but with ignorance and righteousness. It causes many problems in the foreign policy arena, this lack of respect of the inherent dignity of other nations/peoples. Even here in Korea when I have the background TV on, I constantly here the commercial of a tv program saying, "Mexico, known as God's blind spot.". And let's not forget that bigotted tv serial, I think called the Lopez family where the man is portraited as a big dummy, lazy underachiever....
You and your arguements remind me much of the kid in my Grade 7 social studies class, sitting at the back, licking his hair and raising his hand, thinking he knows it all because he read 10 pages ahead in the chapter, "how America won the west." And don't even get things started in this direction.....

Never advocated killing them. But I do think there are bad guys in the world. Bad guys should be dealt with. They should feel the suffering of others. Kissinger I only would have there, to keep old Pinochet company, that would be the worst kind of suffering imaginable.

Quit stretching the truth. Never celebrated, never defended al Qaeda, and only defended Hizbollah's right to defend itself against aggression. This should be a universal principal which unfortunately is not adhered to in the so called, "civilized" world with their hygenic, let's get quickly back to the tv set , warfare.
I have read this post in totally and I can see clearly, you don't know what your position really is. I can see your arguements in 3 lights....
1. Where is the smoking gun? Evidence, evidence , evidence. You want it all, right down to the dust on the theif's collar, if not, how could he have stolen that antique? You dismiss all opinions and arguements until you really stand for nothing. Categorically Imperativeless. I would suggest that you get out of the booknote, footnote, bibliography, citation mode and know that real historians assess not of "proof" but of repeated patterns. If it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck and tastes like a duck, it is a dead duck.
2. Hail to the chief. Conservative, God, good govt and me (not necessarily in that order.). If we did something wrong, it was just an error, nothing inherently wrong. Unabashed belief in something that is not of your own. A slave mentality that Nietzsche would have weeped at.
3. I know more and if you don't believe like I do, you are a marxist, leftist, grudgist, conspiratorialist. But you humour the crowds, you need to feel good about yourself, polish your ego.......
I would suggest that the America I believe in and believe is still there, is the one evoked by Bobby Kennedy. As he said in his speech/eulogy to MLK,

| HizBollah was the agressor though. Despite Israel withdrew from Lebanon in 2000, Hezbollah chose to attack Israeli targets with rockets and while doing so kidnap 2 soldiers. Thats not self defense that is terrorism. |
