well...for those of us who live in the states and follow soccer and are unable to go watch the likes of ronaldo, henry, rooney etc play...this should make MLS a bit more exciting to watch. now that Beckham signed, teams are in talks with Edgar Davids and Ronaldo.

yeah...these guys are in the twilight of their careers, but at least i'll be able to see them play in person.

25 years ago, the North American Soccer League got Pele to come to the league to give the league legitimacy.

For those of you who remember what happened...Pele did not make an impact at all in the NASL or bringing fans to the stands...

Aging singers do Vegas, Beckham does LA. A great way to go out with a flourish; go somewhere you can still shine on and off the field, be a mentor to many kids and give the sport you love a shot in the arm in a country that has huge potential to be among the best.

It's not his fault the contract is worth so darn much. Besides, the vast majority of that will come from advertising and endorsements, not from the league directly.

Good for him. It's a mad world.

I don't blame Becks for going to the States for the money and other opportunities he's gonna get there, but from a soccer perspective, it'd have been better if he signed for another top European side as he is only 31 as opposed to 34. Beckham has been beyond sport for several years and this move vindicates that view.
