Did you guys really find it funny? Seriously? Are we talking laugh out loud funny? Or are we talking exhale audibly out the nose funny? Come on?! As far as humour goes, you cannot seriously tell me that was champagne comedy.

As for the politics. The show promotes moderate Islam. I think the importance of that supercedes the "look at the dumb whiteys" angle. I hope they introduce more than the one token whitey good guy they had in the first episode, though. But I won't know because I'm not watching the unfunny crap again. Razz

No. The reaction by the anti-Muslim crowd is funnier. Which isn't that funny either.

The all-time list of Canadian shows worth watching remains the same.

Have you been to Liverpool? Ever met a Chav? I'm sorry, but I will not accept uppity moralizing about the people of Canada from someone who comes from the country that produces white trash to the amount that does England. 20 minutes in a nightclub in Liverpool will quickly convince one that the English are almost fully out of control. The Island is unmatched in her ability to *beep* out genetic garbage en masse. Mississippi bows down in shame.

What nightclub are you referring to exactly BJWD? I'm from Liverpool and would like to know where you got that impression from. And ignore Spinoza, he's just a manc.... Wink

Speaking of the Centre-of-the-Universe (Toronto), wouldn't it be nice if they actually filmed that show on the prairie?

I'm looking forward to watching the show. I've had some wonderful friends who are young Muslims in Canada, and they've been highly intelligent, strongly principled, articulate, beautiful people. I think they deserve some positive portrayal in the media. I don't believe that all the humour in this show will come at the expense of whitey either. I'm keeping my hopes up!

Apparently it premiered this week and I missed it even though I'm in Canada at the moment, but you can see the premiere on Youtube:

So far, there are goofy Muslims and goofy whiteys. It has certainly made me laugh. So far, so good.

Awwww, now the Canadians and the Brits are upset. Such a horrible world, that doesn't give to the Canucks the respect they deserve. Smug, smug, smug.

I'm just curious as to which Liverpool nightclub you went to that convinced you that "the English are almost fully out of control".

It was 9 years ago. Unfortunately, I don't remember the name. My apologies to the British Gentlemen with thin skins.

I love Europeans. They can spend so much time slamming those darned Americans, yet are totally unable to take such medicine themselves. All of a sudden, we need evidence. No evidence is needed, of course, at Spinoza's assertion about North Americans.. No way, that is self evident. But to even suggest(!) that England has her share of douchbags... The horror!

hahahahahahaha. You don't say. Taught me so much about the the beauty of diversity poor old homogeneous America seems to lack.

My god you guys are smug. Seriously. Damn.

You are one bitter bi**h. Oh boo hoo, there is a show in Canada that makes an American look bad. Call George Bush to invade and take it off. Like there haven't been a million instances in American shows that make Canadians look like bleeping morons. You know, the usual slow-talking, stupid, easy to fool baffoon that we usually see. Go take your medicine.

oh don't get your granny panties in a bunch.

Don't you think that its even a LITTLE ironic...just a TAD.... that Canadians have taken unto themselves the label of multiculturalism? Just because you call yourself something doesn't mean you are. And the fact that there was a show, trying to teach an American, from a place that is THE most diverse in the history of the world...a TRULY multicultural, multilingual place... about how to behave in a multicultural society struck me as something so blindingly NOT self-aware thatI had to comment on it.

It would be as if there was a show in the states where we tried to teach some Canadian about the joys and benefits of our awesome health care. I mean, come on.

I work at the CBC. When they first showed me Little Mosque, I was unimpressed. It's been amazing to watch the international hype build up out of nothing - basically a concept and a cute name - with fierce opinions on either side about a show no one had seen.

I still don't think it's great. Topical, but not controversial. Although the other episodes are funnier than the first.

But the show debuted with 2.1 million visitors, the highest premier in Canada for any show, ever. The second night's repeat brought 900K, which is unbelievable.

Thanks to discussions like this.

Whatever... Just because you call yourself that doesn't mean it's true.

By the way, how many national languages does the US have?

Do you mean official languages? That's be 0. Or do you mean languages actually spoken in the US? That'd be 176.

my brain just exploded with your circular logic.

calling yourself something doesn't make it true, but because canada has called themselves a bilingual nation it's true. america is not multilingual because they don't call themselves so, but if they did it wouldnt be true because just because you call yourself something doesn't make it true, but because...

POP.

I can't believe you wrote that. Absolutely the most idiotic post in the new year.

Reminds me of my classmate, who is also from Canada. She wears a shirt that says "I'm perfect AND I'm Canadian" at least twice a week. Smug Canadians and their bizarre self-image. How deeply you all buy into the Liberal Party propaganda.
