There is some chilling footage on this film.
One thing I don't understand is why (at the 29 minute mark) it shifts to focusing on the World Bank. Slavery has existed for thousands of years for exactly the same reasons. I was disappointed in the film's loss of focus at this point. It got back on track a few minutes later.
It is shocking that this kind of thing still goes on, but I've never heard of a solution other than prosecuting the perpetrators after the fact. Not soon enough or severe enough in my opinion. |

The World Bank was created to help end world poverty. One bank official in the US offered to send an employee to school if she agreeded to work for his family unit. Her visa was sponsored by The World Bank. Yet, she basically became the family slave. |

I don't think I get your point.
The film was mainly about Indians enslaving Indians, Africans enslaving Africans (which they have been doing for god knows how long) and your response is 'one bank guy got a visa for an unfortunate woman and made her his slave'?
I didn't watch the last portion. I was wondering if they filmed any interviews with the 3D workers here. From what I hear, the plight of a good number of those guys is pretty close to slavery in my book. |

What's my point? Good question? As guest workers in South Korea we complain a lot about the unfairness of our employers, yet things are greatly worse in other parts of the world. The film also contains interviews with a couple of grown men lured into jobs with promises of make a decent wage, when in fact the jobs went straight into slavery. See a connection?
This is why I haven't posted much on Dave's. Just wanted to toss out a tad of enlightenment and it would seem all I've done nothing more than open myself up for oppression.
The film was just a means of opening up a new thought, nothing more.
cheers to you boy. |
