I wish one of those artificial languages would replace English as the world language.
I don't like to travel overseas and have strangers speaking to me in English.

I have never been able to understand why the French language shouldn't be bestowed that honor.
French is already the first or second language in places all over the world.
Furthermore, French is easier than English both grammatically and phonetically.
When I ask this question, people usually tell me, "People all over the world hate the French for reasons of imperialism."
Yet we often hear the same thing about the United States.

Resentment against the French must REALLY be intense if it is more intense than resentment against the Americans!

It certainly is rather odd to be the only group of people in the world to be told "It's okay, you just stay unilingual and leave the studying to us. Just lie back and keep talking. You want to learn my language? Don't worry about it, it's hard and nobody uses it anyway." Kind of like that master and slave dialectic.
I still haven't found a language that I want to support 100% but organizationally Espo and Interlingua seem to be doing the best. Personally I like to keep my eyes open for what's being created at the moment but if I were to donate to one of them it would be one of those two. I'm not a big Espo fan but they do a good job of talking about the concept of a universal second language, which is good pr for the others too.

Well now, this is timely. It's Interlingua Day and they just published a 15-part language course in English. Here it is:

http://www.interlingua.com/an/curso

(as with the others only registered users can download)
