ulsanchris, I will not recommend the icarus to anyone based on what I have experienced. The user interface is in korean. I was able to find an english firmware from the internet though. I was able to use it for just two weeks then it dropped my connection and I wasn't able to reconnect again. I set it aside for a week and when i tried to use it again I can no longer open the user interface. It maybe that just I bought a bad unit or it got screwed up when i changed the firmware to english. Anyway I would recommend you to look for other models. The ones that has an english UI and manual.

Just to add... Another reason I choose NetGear, is that one can flash the firmware to English, NetGEAR is not the 'best' but its certainly good enough and is better than most. Persoanlly I prefer them more than Linksys but hey... its personal preferanace. Just like I prefer Audi's more than BMW's. There is not real right or wrong.

Just spend the extra W20,000 and buy something decent. Don't try and save in areas you should not skimp in.

An overprotective nerd? Yeah, and we are ESL teachers too, right? I think I was pretty clear in my last post as to my motivations. I am a bit nerdy, but nothing I speak of is in any way my own; I just like clarity.

On topic, I have a Linksys WRT54GC. Not bad, but it has some issues with P2P apps, notably UTorrent. The firmware was conveniently in English already.

Well, it all depends on what you are doing on your system. I do alot of online banking, forum chatting etc. and I dont want my passwords being sniffed on my WiFi. So yes, I am paranoid. If you are doing online banking with no security someone could easily get your passwords.

Personally, I think you are crazy (no offense) to not have any security at all. I do not broadcast my SSID, I use WPA and I only allow the MAC address from MY WiFi-NIC on my laptop to access my AP.

At least you could turn on WPA.
