Aside from the requisite tin foil hat, what will the club uniform look like?

I'm not sure if I'm a hard-core believer, but I saw an interesting program on TV last night about UFOs and China. There has been some interesting sightings (and footage) over the past few tears, some dating back to the 1960s. Convinced me a little more. But...
sorry, I still need a little more convincing. If so, I would happily join you.

I suggest having the club make some crop circles in corn fields (when the season is right...) You can also collaborate with the expat aspiring filmmaker group - who might discreetly supply a couple elusive alien characters and some rudimentary special effects. Maybe some expat scientists can figure out how to induce some "ball lightning"...

The photo taken by Selby resident Jody Holden has been described ...as "one of the most powerful UFO images ever... an alien spacecraft looking down on Brayton Barff was captured a month ago. He added: "At first Jody looked and thought it was an aeroplane, but on closer inspection he saw it was a saucer with a two-tier effect." (or maybe just some kind of balloon, military experiment or hoax...)http://www.ufoarea.com/events_selbyufophoto.html

Hrm. A highly militarized peninsula with all kinds of American and Korean aircraft patrolling at night. You will, no doubt, spot a lot of flying objects, many you might not be able to identify. How do you determine a light in the sky is indeed an alien space craft and not a helicopter, military drone, one of those stealth fighters they've just based in Korea, etc.?

The first UFO siting in America, the one by Kenneth Arnold, he did not see a flying saucer (which was the origin of the term). He described seeing boomerang shaped aircraft that skipped like saucers. However, the media subsequently dropped the boomerang reference and just went with "flying saucer". And people have been seeing them ever since, not the boomerang craft Arnold originally saw.

Actually most UFO sightings take place in areas with a heavy military presence, and most often by military personnel. It's likely they're misinterpreting something they don't understand, or you could guess the aliens are studying our conflicts and combat capabilities. I really doubt it though.

This one is really interesting because it's a recent sighting (last Nov. 7) of a "flying disk" in the vicinity of O'Hare Airport in Chicago, and dozens of airport workers including pilots - and many others - reported seeing it. Here's a link to a video of a Chicago local TV news report:

Here's a classic "Unsolved Mysteries" re-enactment of an extensively documented "Bentwaters/Rendlesham Forest" case involving U.S. Military stationed in England:http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-3492503939374176165&q=cnn+ufo&hl=en

Even pilots don't always identify things correctly. There are a lot of cases of pilots taking evasive action to avoid Venus. There is a maxim that goes "If you mistake venus for a plane, you'll be made fun of. If you mistake a plane for venus, you'll be dead."

I was listening recently to an interview with one of the astronomers for SETI. She herself saw a "UFO" on a night flight but later figured out it was the moon. Even the best "trained observer" makes mistakes.

Cool - I'll keep you in mind when I start planning the outing around April or May. Sorry for the delay in response. My account was deactivated because I changed my email address, and I just recently got it reactivated.

Peace

No tin foil and crystals, though we may chant a mantra to build our group telepathic energy.
