broken korean in my phone/sync editor!

i just got a new phone! yay me! however, when syncing my phone and computer via usb, the names come up as question marks on my computer. i'm very tech-savvy, btw. i have east-asian languages installed, and i have korean set as the language version of non-Unicode programs. i run lots of other korean programs just fine without broken text. my phone is a curitel pl-2700 and i'm using curitel's phone sync and editor program. any suggestions?
