Am I just lucky or do Koreans have problems giving correct change or getting the price right? Maybe its just me, but I have been extremely lucky in my year or so in Korea. Here are a few examples:
Item 1: Purchased a webcam at Carrefour last year, price was marked at 60,000 but somehow I was only charged 23,000.
Item 2: Purchased 3 bottles of wine for each principal at my high school. Total should of been about 45,000, the woman said I owed 35,000. Of course I didn't argue with her. I even went back to check the prices a day later and they were marked as I thought I had read them the night before.
Item 3: Last night, purchased a pizza from Papa John's total price of 13,500. Gave the man 20,000. He handed me back 11,000 won. Tried to explain the error but he didn't understand and left, figured he would be back for his dough but never showed up.
Item 4: Took a taxi tonight, total was 3000. Paid the guy 5000 and was given back change of 7000. Got out of the cab and had a look at the change, by that time the guy had sped off into the night. What a jackass.
I guess these examples aren't and sort of real evidence of anything as it has only happend to me. I want to see if anyone else has experienced this type of money mismanagement, or if I am just lucky. Anyone else having money mismanagement experiences while in Korea? (Not your hagwon dicking you out of money), experiences that have been in your favor. |
