Calling all movie buffs...

Just watching "True Lies" on OCN. You know, the scene with the motorbike and the horse going up the twin elevators. OK, maybe not the BEST chase scene ever, but pretty unique... which got me thinking...

So the idea is to find the most adrenaline-inducing, heart-palpitatingly exciting chase scenes from the silver screen.

Just off the top of my head, I'm thinking of the big chase in "Ronin", the chariot race in "Ben Hur", and Harrison Ford's horseback ride chasing the Ark.

Bring 'em on!

The big chase/shootout scene in Heat has always been one of my favorites.

The best chase ever, according to a Hollywood "list" program where they ranked the top 10, was in a Steve McQueen movie, but I forget the name of the film. I bet someone will remember it, or take the time to google it.

Bullit with Steve Mcqueen was cool.
Also To Live and Die in LA.
I have only seen a few short clips but the chase scene in Mel Gibsons Apocolypto looks awesome.

"The Warriors" is basically one big chase scene, and it's got hillarious dialogue.
"The French Connection",
"The Bourne Identity", and the sequel,
and the truck v horse bit in "Raiders of the Lost Ark"
are my fave vehicular chases.
If you look at that list, you'd think the trend seems to be that there just aren't that many good chase scenes anymore, are there?
But, wait! Check out these clips!

"Ong-Bak," that silly Thai flick, has an excellent footrace,

and so does "Banlieue 13", the French one,

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B48tLkTqXzA

and both are DEFINITELY worth a download. Parkour Chase is the new Car Chase.
Silly stuff, but very entertaining.

ooh good choice. I'll throw out a couple good ones I can think of...

The Transporter opening chase scene-Little over the top but dumb fun

Tank Scene in Goldeneye-James Bond running stuff over in a tank. Classic.

Three wheeled cart scene from Ong Bok- I like this one just for being different.

The scene with the crane truck from Terminator 3-I know the rest of the movie is complete crap but man, the blow up EVERYTHING for like 5 minutes in that chase. Whatch that scene then turn it off.

BAD BOYS 2! Im not much of action flick guy, but that chase scene with the Hummer driving down the hill through the Cuban shanty/crack houses was wild and it ends up in front of Guantanumo Bay US Base. WOW was all I could say after watching that one!

"Where's the Blues Mobile....?"

"I traded it for a mic?"

" A MIC!?"

"Yeah a mic....listen, its got cop tires and a cop transmission! It was a great deal!"

"I don't like it...its a piece of shit!"

"You dont like it?"

"Yeah I dont like it!"

Danny A hits the accelator and goes over the draw bridge! What a scene!

And another one of my favorite lines...."Look they got Pier 1 Imports" as they are driving through the mall being chased by the cops....

Or, and sorry to go on....when they finished the gig at the country western bar and the Good Ole Boys come along, and the leader of country western band demands to know whats going on and he says "Your going to be looking pretty funny....eating corn on the COB WITH NO F-ING TEETH!"
Brilliant film.....just brilliant! Must of watched it 100 times in Uni.

The scene where Gene Hackman was chasing that dude on the subway in The French Connection was pretty intense as well. But I think hands down the best would have to be Bullitt. But, it's interesting to listen to the RPMs of both cars during that chase scene. The Challenger is running low while the Mustang's is all wrapped up.
