Just occurred to me: to get an E-2 you need the whole transcripts and diploma thing to work in a hagwon. But those are for the visa. However, on an F-2 you are already cleared to work anywhere you wish, so... theoretically, not needed? Anyone have a clue?
Could be a money saver not having to get copies of transcripts. |

No, your hagwon is still supposed to register you with the local MoE. You need the degree for this. Of course, many hagwons never actually register their teachers. Mine only did so recently because the MoE came snooping around. |

Right. I did a few clases for TPR while on an F2 and they needed my degree. |

As stated above, you need to register with the MoE, but you shouldn't need transcripts for that. Just your diploma.

You are dealing with 2 different ministries. On an E2 with a nazi-like, hyper powerful MoJ. On an E2 with a joke of an agency with no real power, the MoE. Really, it doesnt matter if you are registered with the MoE because what are they going to do? They might penalize your boss but they havent got any power vis a vis you. |

Teaching without registering with the local Dept. of Education is a violation of Korean law. Your F-2 visa must be renewed by Immigration and Immigration must approve and issue the F-5 if you wish to become a perm. resident.
The F-2 visa entitles you to work legally. If you violate Koren law and are reported your F-2 can be canceled or not renewed. If you have violations of Immigration or other laws you won't be approved for an F-5. Why take the risk. Registration with the Dept. of Ed. is a simple process and only requires your passport,ARC card and degree. You should know that if you have an F-2 visa it is YOUR responsibility to register not your employer. |
