I gave my proper notice at my current job and have found another job. The new job wants me to come in and sign the contract tomorrow, but I don't finish working at my current job/my visa with this job is valid until mid-February when I go to Immigration with my LOR. Is this going to be a problem with Immigration/processing my visa for my next job?
Also, has anyone that has had to get a LOR ever had a problem getting their boss to go to Immigration with them? If yes, how did you handle it?
Please help! Thanks! |

If you go to immi with your boss to cancel the VISA (and you get your exit order or whatever you need), I'm fairly certain you don't need an LOR.

If your new contract starts before your first contract ends, then you need to make sure that your new school does not try to apply for your visa before you have cancelled your first visa. Immigration does not know that you are leaving your job, so if they get an application for a second visa which is to start before the first one is set to end according to their records, a red flag will go up and you will have a problem. Signing the contract is no problem as long as they don't process it until you have been release from your first visa. |

thank you for your help, i thought that might be the case, but wasn't sure. i will let my new job know not to begin the process until i am free.
is there any way to let immigration know that i will be leaving my current job at a certain date so that my new job will be able to start the visa process? my last day here is supposed to be february 13 and i am starting my new job in march. i am worried that my visa won't be ready in time for me to start teaching. |

My former boss gave me a release letter, handed it to me, and that was it. I did not have to go with him to immigration
I gave it to the recruiter, my degree, 2 passport photos, and that was it. Two weeks later the new school gave me the new visa number, I went to Japan last week and Monday I started the new job. |
