My husband said 1 pyeong is 3.3 sq. m., so 5 = 16.5 sq. m = a shoe box.

To live comfortably for one person, you want at least 10 pyeong and depending on where you live ... you could put down just 5m plus a monthly rent.. probably not in Seoul but anywhere else is very doable.

You can put 5 million down and get any size place you want, provided you are willing to pay the rent! For a single person, 10-12 Pyung can get you by, but it is a bit frustrating. I'd go for a minimum of 20 pyung, which usually gives you at least a separate room and kitchen.

Get a roommate. You could pool your coin, put 10 million down, and pay 400-500 a month in cash each for rent and live in a palace.

No, that's a great closet. Nice of them to provide a place for you to put your suit(s).

They're on drugs, and they are insulting you. Run the other way. If that's the best they'll do for your housing, I can't even imagine what other b.s. they'll feel entitled to heap upon your person.

5 pyung? That's the size of my bathroom. You can't live there.
There'll be no room to cook/clean or have anyone over.

5 pyeong is about 180 square feet. Imagine a square 13.3 feet long and 13.3 feet wide. That square would be the size of your entire apartment, including bathroom, bed, kitchen area, etc. If you're interested in experiencing Korea the way that migrant Bangladeshi factory workers do, then I guess that would be perfect. Otherwise, I would hold out for something bigger.

A 5-pyeong apartment - that's laughable! Are you sure it's not 15 or 50???
If you're being asked to pay a 5 mill deposit for 5 pyeong, tell them no way. You can get a yeogwan inn room for 5 pyeong without a deposit and pay from around 500,000 per month for it. (However, if you're female, I'd advise against living in a yeogwan.)
