|
|
Has anyone ever used an E-ticket for leaving Incheon before? I had one issued for me for an upcoming trip to Nagoya, Japan, and the whole idea seems a little strange to me. I'm paranoid about showing up at the airport with my print-out ony to discover that it is insufficient to board the plane, then have it leave, with me still in Korea.
Anyone else been through this process? I have the email from the travel agent that reads "This is e-ticket", but it also has links to another page with what appears to be another version of this same e-ticket.
Can anyone offer any advice, insight or suggestions?
Thanks! |

Yes, it is likely on the level. It is the way airlines and travel agents do business now (it is the same as if you book yourself online). When you go to the airline check in desk the only thing you really need to show them is your passport. They have all your information stored. I just flew out of Incheon to Thailand on Jan. 15th under the same arrangement (as well as about a dozen other trips over the last 3 years).
You can bring along the print out with the reference numbers if there is any problem or confusion.
Take care. |

| The travel agency in Seoul I've been using for years has always given me paper tickets. Then this winter they surprised me with an e-ticket. I used it with no problems. I guess more and more travel agencies in Korea are going this route. |

| In the US, you usually have to pay extra to get a paper ticket. Paper tickets are about a thing of the past today, especially if you buy your ticket online. |

| The only security in a paper ticket was a) it was a form of currency between airlines... if your flight was over booked, you could swing a flight with another airline with your paper ticket. The airlines would exchange paper tickets and make good on each other's flights b) it was pretty solid proof for customs that you had an intent to leave. Anyone can crank out something on a laser printer these days. |

Wow an E-TICKET!
Seems to me that all you guys from developed countries, where they sit on chairs instead of floors, are getting nervous to embrace technology.
crack, don't even remember how paper tix look like.
what will they think of next? paying by swiping a plastic card for public transportation? I wonder how they will squeeze the money into that plastic...they will have to shrink the bills i guess. |

| I have been using E-tickets for a loooooooooooooooong time now. It's not new (I remember getting an e-ticket back in 1999! That was like one of the first ones), so you can rest easy and travel safe! |

Just take your e-ticket to the airline check in area, show them that and your passport, and they'll issue you the paper ticket at that time. No biggie. It's done all the time now. That's how I just flew home to Canada. No hassle. Have a good trip! |

Asiana did that when I flew with them this summer. But you're right a lot of places just issue boarding passes. |
