it's impossible not to get laid in korea, adventurer. promiscuity (sp? too lazy to check the dictionary) is tolerated here too, so you can have 3 chicks on the go, the sky's the limit! if you're tall, not fat (although i've seen even fat short losers with prettier girls than more handsome guys) and nice you'll score.
also, the american chicks i've met have been great. i've met one or two tw*ts of course but that's inevitable. of all the waygook girls here, americans are the nicest in my experience and korean americans are even better. to be honest though adventurer, I have almsot no time to hang out with waygooks because of work and gf reasons. |

Let me say this.
The foreigner community in Seoul is very very friendly, in my experience. People tend to let loose, make stupid, impulsive, even desperate decisions, because chances are that anyone who find out will be out of the country within months.
It's a small community, but there's far less competition in any given bar, which can work out well. For instance, I'm much more confident and if I see someone I fancy, I have no problem approaching them with an attitude that says "Hey-- I'm the only white girl you've talked to all week. I've got a great rack. What are you going to do about it?" I've been to a few bars in recent weeks here in Canada, and felt far less "special" and sure of myself. Part of that is comparing myself physically to other girls, and part of it is just not knowing where to start.--what would we talk about? The Canadian experience? The latest Sarah McLachlan release? I'm being facetious, of course, but you get the idea.
If you're in Seoul, you'll be able to find someone, no matter what your standards/preferences are. You'll probably hook up with people you would have never expected back home, just because you've got this shared "ex-pat" experience to discuss. You might bat well above your average, just because you have an interesting accent.
In other words, don't worry. It's very hard not to get laid in Korea. |
Thanks for the responses. So far, I've found the foreign expat males to be friendly in general. The females seem to be as well but less so.
I can't really say much about Korean femmes expect that it seems like we would have more opportunities to have Korean girls who would be friendlier to us and foreign guys outnumber foreign females. Of course, the field might be good because many foreign guys date Korean girls, so there might be a situation equivalent of more foreign girls available than can go around for the foreign guys around.
I like bars but I am not one to frequent them necessarily every weekend, though I've done that in Korea as if I were a worker in the Yukon or Alaska. How does that work for most guys out here, I mean the bar scene? I do like beer, but what about the kind of girl who is into museums, sometimes drinking, trips, culture, checking out art, reading. I noticed no girls commented on this thread.
If the girls act friendlier here than back home that would be nice. I hope it is true.
As far as getting laid that is another issue. That is different from dating. |

Actually, Adventurer, you might have a fair bit of luck with the Western girls you do meet, as generally, Western girls are not attracted to Korean men the way Western guys are to Korean women. There are exceptions to this of course, and I don't mean in anyway to denigrate Korean men - many of whom are lovely. But to most Western girls I know, Asian men are for some reason generally not as fanciable as other ethnicities. Therefore, you might find you're quite in demand! |

Thanks, Bird, the question is where to meet them? In a bar? Of course, some might be lucky and meet a great girl who wants to hook up and lives in the same building. I'll to the Western girls unless they have this friendly look. Western women are not very likely to date Korean men (but I have seen some who do and did) because they feel the men are kind of into this macho culture and there is a language barrier and for women it is often more of an issue than for the men. I suppose I could start hanging out in the bars. Do I need to bring one of my guy friends when I go. I am sure there are plenty of nice ones out there. In bars, women often think guys are like lions after a zebra's meat. That can have its pitfalls:) I am sure plenty of the women are great. I should probably join some kind expat organization. I see plenty of friendly guys, and if I were a girl that would be great lol. I am not interested in Korean girls more than Western ones. I suppose I could get interested in a Korean girl. It seems easier to hook up. There are more opportunities. One of my friends said it would be easier if I were predatory, but she wouldn't want me to change and become that way. |

I didn't mention any nationality. I just said Western. It really makes no difference to me if the girl is from London, Ottawa, or Los Angeles. But are you saying that some Western and American girls think the guys are not so receptive to them? I didn't quite get you. Who knows how each perceives the other. What is the best place to hook up? I suppose a bar is the best option.
non-rambiling post:) lol

I think an expat organisation might be a start, but bars are definately one place to start looking. I don't know where you live so I can't help you, but often there are particular bars where expats like to hang out. I think that your presence in a bar might be looked on a little differently than back home, because being part of a minority, Westerners are often curious of, and pleased to meet up with other Westerners. If you seem a pleasant kind of guy, friendly and easy to chat with, you'll usually find yourself welcome (in my experience).
If you are in Seoul, then there are certain districts, like Sinchon and Itaewon. Geckos in Itaewon is the first bar that comes to mind as a sure place to meet expats. If you are in Seoul (or even if you are not) you could meet up for the Dave's get togethers. Also, you could go to KOTESOL meetings (held all around the country). You're likely to meet foreign women there.
As long as you just act yourself, I don't think many Western women would object to you introducing yourself. You've got the pretext that you're "so pleased to have the chance to chat with another native English speaker!" |

My buddy Jethro has three questions for you:
How many points on the rack?
Are you in season?
Does he need a license to hunt you? |
