Ok so i've arrived without a photo for my resume. Can anyone recommend a place where i can get a nice one done? I'm currently staying near hongik so anything close by would help.

uhhh ... do you not have a camera? I only send out my resume by email, and I use a jpeg pic that's imbedded in the file. Using a digital picture allows me to crop, fix, & retouch to my heart's content. Simple and easy.

I can't imagine trying to send out physical pictures of myself. Especially since I'm in Seoul--I'd interview in person, but I don't see myself ever handing out little wallet-size high-school-senior-type photos. But then maybe we're the kind of people who would never apply for the same kind of job.

There are photo booths all over the place, cheap. Yeah, they may not be the classiest places in town, but they'll work. I don't know about Kinkos but I would imagine they might be able to help you with printing or business cards with your photo or something like that. Many of them offer digital passport pictures, although they might not all offer that.

Otherwise, if you're looking for some kind of portrait studio, then no, I have no idea where to go.

You could try Star Shots...they're everywhere. Cheap too. You probably won't recognize yourself though.

Many underground subway stations have the photo booths mentioned above. You sometimes have to buy a token at a nearby newspaper booth.

Ok thanks for the advice, yes i have a digital camera, but i was worried that the pictures i took wouldn't look professional enough. Does anyone have any advice for the photo? I know i should dress nicely with a tie and all that and have a plain background? Smile? Anything else?

I can also vouch for Star Shot(s?). I got 9 pics there at a branch between Namyeong and Sookmyung Stations (Line 1/4) for 10,000 and they looked amazing. They were clearly digitally enhanced, as they erased any blemishes and removed my eye bags. They also ironed out my hair so no sticking out bits. You can also ask them to put the pics on CD Rom for an extra 5,000. Make sure you take a nice shirt (and tie) to put on in the photo studio to make the pictures look all the more professional.

Curiously, I went back to get a second batch done, and the second time they charged me 10,000 for just 5 pics. Inflation???

The cheap photo booths are not in the same league.

I just took my digital camera, pointed it at myself, and started clicking. I stood against a light beige wall.

Put the pictures on my computer to look at them. Picked one, brought it to the kodak shop, and had them make passport size photos..
I used that for my visa papers. I used that for my e-2. And usd that for my resume.
