She apparently hung herself. And she was only 25.
I was never in to her music. To be honest, I mainly remember her for having these big ridiculous fake breasts and a very reconstructed face. But that's neither here nor there I guess. It's a shame that anybody would find themselves in such a situation. RIP.
EDIT-- alright, I guess it's not cool to talk about somebody's suicide and then slag them in the next breath. But I've always felt she was a good example of a Korean entertainer getting too much plastic surgery and although it's a generalization, I've always felt that plastic surgery was connected in some way to low self-esteem. So it adds some pathos to the situation. |

Yeah I don't know man. I have never heard of her before, but then again I don't know much about Korean music, and certainly not pop music. Never heard a single Boa or Hyori song, for example (afaik).
Not a big deal to slag someone after a suicide. We do it to Hitler all the time. This thread might not be very popular because no one knows who she is.
Now, you are saying plastic surgery might be connected with low self-esteem, which is possibly true, but we have to remember that she was an entertainer, and it's not unusual at all for a public figure to get some kind of appearance modifier, be it oral surgery or rhinoplasty. |

WOW! She was scheduled for a comeback too. What a complete disaster.
U;Nee (유니)
Comeback after a 20 month-long hiatus
Sexy singer U;Nee is releasing her third album Hani on the 22nd. This is her first musical release in two years since Call Call Call from her second album released in March 2005. Having been on a 20 month break, U;Nee has been working hard to prepare for her comeback.
Hani is a strong dance song that features hiphop beats with an Oriental sound, layering the sound of an Indian sitar onto the background of Korean-style pop. The song will be accompanied by unique dance choreography utilizing U;Nees dancing skills.
U;Nees comeback will be broadcast on TV programs later this month.

I am sorry that such a young woman committed suicide. I would feel bad even if the person was old. We don't know why she did it. You can just low self-esteem, but we don't know if she had some kind of mental imbalance.
Rest in peace.... At least, she is no longer suffering... |

that's just so sad............. why why why.......................
no one should ever criticize her on any manner....on her image or what not.. please lets not get into that...
I admired her for her bravery on her image and music... but why..
I just can't believe it...
beautiful Unee... they say that unlike her "sexy image", she's introverted, quiet, reserved, and took criticisms toward her image very personally... some articles blame the "internet bullies" and some say its depression....
rest in peace...

On a grammatical/news-writing note:
It's hanged, not hung. She hanged herself, The picture was hung. |

This is just further proof that money and fame don't buy happiness. Maybe she had major personal problems, like love-life problems, etc. RIP. Like they say, it's lonely at the top. So many famous, rich people commit suicide. I guess it can be lonely, because some people are so jealous of you tghey don't want to be around you, while others only want to be around you for the fame and money. Actually, a sad life in many cases. |

I don't know if SO many rich, famous people commit suicide. Think because they are high profile, and you hear about it, might make it seem that way.
Money and Fame might not bring happiness, but I can guarant-dam-tee you that no one who is rich and famous would trade it in. I can count on one hand all the celebrities I've heard of who walked away from the spotlight.
And then they usually end up crawling back a year or two later. |

For people talking like she was rich and famous, I'm not so sure about that.
Because:
a) she wasn't exactly an A list celebrity
b) music sales in Korea have been in the crapper for a long time
3) she was living with her Grandma, uncle etc. out in Incheon
ok she would have made some money from the odd modelling shoot thanks to her famous body, but not millions.
Very sad nonetheless but I get the feeling a lot of overworked celebrities are not as wealthy as we think. |

How predictable, and how inhuman.
Someone here always seems to say that every single time a suicide is mentioned here. A teacher committed suicide in Korea recently and the people who knew him deliberately decided not to mention it on this board because it was all too likely this kind of viciousness was bound to come out of the woodwork.
She was in more pain than she was able to deal with and took her own life as a result.
Wrench, I don't know you, but it's clear that you have no idea what it is like to feel suicidal or to lose someone to suicide. I can only say that you are very fortunate to be able to live in the state of blissful ignorance that allows you to make a statement like that. |

Don't want to exactly point fingers, but here's one possibility.
If she truly was quiet and reserved, one has to wonder if we could blame her managers and the K-pop scene. This girl underwent MAJOR changes through surgrery and her image was definitely a sexy/trampy one. If she was naturally shy and timid, well, you can see how the problems would arise.
Poor girl. |

"she's introverted, quiet, reserved, and took criticisms toward her image very personally."
People like this should NEVER go into the entertainment industry. It's a brutal and cold industry, requiring a thick skin. Too bad.
Look at what all the haters posted on her cyworld:
