When getting your F2, is it a problem if you are currently on a tourist visa? Do you need to be on an E2 to show current income? Do you need an arc card? |

First of all, are you a man or a woman?
Second of all, if you intend on staying here for longer than 90 days, by law you must get an ARC card.
Third of all, I don't think you *need* to be on an E2 currently to qualify for an F2 but it may help expedite things. |

I got my first F2 when i was in Hong Kong. So you do not need to have an E2 visa to get one. |

But his situation is a little different.
He is in Korea now... (or may be she?).. they will want to know how he/she is supporting him/herself and his/her family. Not so important for a woman because we are supposed to be dependent on our husbands...
I think they don't want you to be a burden on the Korean society, so they want to know how you are financing your stay in Korea.. When you are not in Korea, however, you are someone's (country) responsibility, so they problem don't care so much....? |

I'm a he.
Just wondering because I thought if I could get the F2 first, and then the job second (for instance I could show a contract to immi if I had to) it would save me the visa run. |

Bah. for sure F2 first will save you a visa run.
I assume f-2-1, which is what I got when I married a Korean in Korea.
F-2=Untouchable. At least that's how I always thought. |

I got my f-2 when I was on a tourist visa. I came back to Canada 1 year later, now I just got my F-2 here in Toronto. I think just as long as you can show marriage in Korea all is ok. |

You just need all the paper work and they'll grant the F2.
In my experience I didn't have all of that papwer work. I just showed our marriage certificate (married outside Korea) to the consulate, paid some cash and they granted an F1 (visiting family visa). The F1 does not allow you to work, and although I could not extend I was told that I could transfer it to an F2-1 with the right paperwork. |
