Hi, I tried searching for my answer, can't find. Daeugu immi. office told my boss I have to accompany her to the immigration office and sign papers with my friggen daughter, then turn in my ARC card. This job is being finished four months into the contract and I have a letter of release. I already have a new visa number for my new job issued and it is through a Uni. in a different district. I do not want to be told you have to leave the country in a matter of days... If there are any wise people who have any info. please let me know. Also I hear Daegu immigration are a bunch of b*tches. Which, seems to be the case. Also my boss never fails to charge me for all of the expenses to drive one hour there and back.

Yes, it's true that Daegu immi is full of scabby bitches. It's much more pleasant to deal with them first thing in the morning.
You can avoid leaving the country if you can arrange both your future and past employers to accompany you at the same time and transfer your visa. Your past employer, MIGHT be able to persuade them to transfer the VISA alone, but i doubt it. Bring your new, signed contract, and your degree and documentation, just in case.
Otherwise, according to previous experience, you will be given an exit order, and be forced to process your newly assigned visa, out of country. |

| I've been in your evact shoes. I went from Daegu to Asan (Daejeon immi office). While Daegu has many more officers it always takes so much longer to do stuff. Daejeon on the other hand has almost as many (maybe even more) foreigners yet they get their work done. |

| Ok, so I am also going to Asan, evidently. My new employer said he does'nt think I need to go to Daegu immi. The issue is not time, it is that I do not want to go to Daegu immigration if I do not have to. Basically my boss wants to hire a new teacher and not be fined by them... So I still do not understand the logistics... my new employer said I do not have to leave the country until 15 days after my contract expires. I do not understand, bc I do not cancel my contract with her, I have simply been released and assigned new visa number for Asan... |

If your boss cancels your VISA, then you have about 2 weeks FROM THAT TIME, to leave the country. This is because immi will issue an exit order. If your boss is arranging something that switches your VISA to the new school, then all will be fine.
However, by no means would the end of your contract be the time that you have to leave the country.
It would either be upon cancellation of your VISA, or expiry of your ARC.
A quick call to immi headquarters will straighten this out. Don't trust your boss. |
