It was pointed out by Grimalkin in another thread that 'i' is the only personal pronoun which is capitalized. It seems to me a perfectly legitimate case to argue against this pronoun's prominence.
So here is the poll. Should it be capitalized or not?
State your case below. |

'I' should remained capitalized, on the argument that it replaces your name and it is capitalized. However, 'You' should also be capitalized.
I would like to suggest that jail time is in order for anyone who draws little circles, hearts or straight lines (like the Koreans do) over the 'i' in place of the perfectly respectable dot. |

i agree with the jail time thing.
'i' should be capitalized because that's the way i learnt it and i don't want to change. likewise, 'you' should not.
edit: also, 'he' and 'she' should not be capitalised unless referring to God. hooray for the status quo! |

What about he and she? We, us, they? In fact, ALL pronouns take the place of a name -- that's exactly the definition of a pronoun.
Capitalizing only I is unjustifiable, especially when you consider that we do not capitalize me.

Oh come on, you don't do that? Weirdo! |

'I' should be capitalized because I am important to the fate of humanity. 'You' should be capitalized because I am a naturally polite person, at least when I'm speaking directly to You. 'He' and 'She' should NOT be capitalized because most of the time they are not there when we are talking about them, so no one cares how they feel. I could see capitalizing 'We' because I am one of them, but never 'they'.
Addendum to the jail time idea: The cell-mate must be an English major who specialized in grammar. Spending years locked up with a grammar teacher is the harshest punishment I can think of. |

| Who cares about the capitalization? I think it should be italicized because italics begins with i. You should be underlined because it has the same sound as the letter u. New pronouns, bhe and bshe and bit should be boldfaced because they begin with b. We and they should be replaced by foreign equivalents. |

I put a slash over the i. Is that ok? I also put a line through sevens and zeroes(top to bottom). I got all this from my mom, but nobody else I know writes like this. |

What kind of fantasy land do you people live in? We got Ya-Ta Boy talking about capitalizing spoken words, Woland taking a completely hypnotic, hallicinatory view at pronouns (laudable!), and JMO venting his suicidal tendencies with a slash at each self-reference.
Bizarro land. |

Don't try to push your potentially criminal behavior off on your mom. You are a grown-up now. Take responsibility for your actions. |

If you can't speak in capital letters, do you really honestly think you should be in front of a classroom? |

The title of your poll needs fixing. The pronoun 'i' IS capitalized. |

I capitalize my I.
But I don't dot my i or j.
I slash 7 but not 0. ("Teacher, is that an F?") I also slash my Z and z.
I write 9 almost like a large lowercase g. I learned it from a Swede.
I now write my English H like a Korean ㅐ stroke order-wise.
I don't write + or & for "and." Instead I write a little 2 with a vertical slash through it.
The Germans capitalize all over the place don't they? Let's steal their pronouns. |
