I usually edit out any mistakes that stand out when I read over my posts, but I left that one in there because it was especially outstanding ...
I don't think anyone has mentioned these notable oldies yet:
Barbara Billingsly - "June Cleaver" - Leave it to Beaver
Harriet Nelson - Ricky Nelson's mom ... Ozzie and Harriet
Jean Stapleton - "Edith Bunker" - All In the Family
Of course, for those who want to cheat - or need help jogging their memories - there are ready-made lists on the Internet like this "Best Television Mom" poll: http://www.popculturemadness.com/Polls/Best-TV-Mom.html
Looking over that list, I would add "Kitty Forman" from That '70s Show (uh oh another subconcious error, this time with Freudian implications - I was thinking "best mom" instead of "best wife" ... )
OK - I see how that happened - I posted after someone who, after listing "Judge Judy", explained that she wasn't really a mom on TV but that "she must be somebody's mom" - so I started thinking that the thread topic was about TV moms... |

Since no one has mentioned her yet, I will.
Debra from Everybody Loves Raymond.
Roseanne, Jill (Home Improvement) and Norma (The Wonder Years) were great too. But I really liked Stephania from Everybody Loves Raymond and Heidi from Home Improvement. If you know what they look like, then you know what I'm talking about. |
