Please share your advice...aside from abstaining...about how to K.O. the presence of soju, etc. on your breath.

It seems that Korean kids are particularly good at detecting it, even days after the fact and many brushings of teeth, mouthwash, continuous gum chewing and so forth.

Any advice?

They're projecting their family life into the classroom.
You smell like Daddy!
Tell them it's expensive cologne from your hometown.
Or try those little silver BB looking breath mint things from Japan, called Eun Dan. They are strong, and good as lozenges.

A few shots of whiskey should mask that pesky soju breath.

Well, the obvious comes to mind: don't drink it.

I hardly drink the stuff. Well, you may need something that neutralizes odours. I do know some people eat parsley to neutralize the pungent smell of garlic. I have no clue if that would help with soju. Does the soju smell not come from an internal source? Brushing your teeth won't help when the smell is coming from inside your body. So you have to take something else that would neutralize that alcoholic beverage's smell. Research that on the net in relation to other drinks and you may have something.

I hope that helps.... Just don't get hammered so much during the week..
I've done that but with beer and only on occasion, and I don't teach mornings and don't smell of alcohol when that happens maybe because I drink certain teas.

not much you can do aside from brushing and mouthwash (preferably a brand that isn't 98% alcohol as many are) .... eating helps (try seolleng tang).

a lot of the odor is coming out of your pores and not your mouth. deoderant body spray?

when i worked at a kiddie hogwan, we had a song that we would sing on those special mornings: "99 bottles of Soju on the Wall" (if one of those bottles should happen to fall ....) -- it's actually a good song for the kids to learn english and math and it's multicultural.

True, for the occassional drunk. However, someone who drinks more than the average person on a daily basis, the smell is coming from both. There is no way to get rid of it totally unless you don't drink for at least 24 hours.

The body doesn't process the last 10% of alcohol,it gets "released" through the mouth and skin as stale booze

A good sweat and/or a second shower help.

Soj' is especially bad as it's just sweetened ethanol, but one brand "San Soju" add green tea to mitigate the smell somewhat.

Haven't got any suggestions for the OP, I'm afraid. Just popped in to say "Hi!" and "hic!" and "Get a whiff my new sig line!" Hot off the Korea Times cyber-presses, and chosen before I ever saw this thread.

"There's nothing quite like the taste of soju to satisfy Koreans who often lead one of the most stressful lives with a low happiness level among OECD countries".

It is a rare talent indeed the Koreans possess. That unique ability to crap all over yourself and still make it sound like you're boasting. Confused

Dunno, but the chick can smell booze on me the next morning even if I have a single beer at like 8 pm and then get a good night's sleep. Maybe Koreans have super Korean noses?

Do you spill half of it down your front?

People say chocholate can mask it, but I guess only from stomach. I used it....but most Korean men go to sauna the next day to sweat it out.

Its funny how whiskey does not give that much of a smell from the body than soju does.
