We make that choice, not God.

A few questions for any serious theologician:

Does god have
1) a belly button?
2) nipples?
3) appendix?
4) hell, does he have all that stuff down there we have?

If he has these things, why? And if he doesn't, we are not created in his image.

This isn't even worth answering until you can get the concept that God is a He out of your system.

As Christians are often without the proper knowledge to really understand evil; avoidance breeds ignorance, so too do non-Christians lack the tools to pose a question that goes beyond the silly one quoted.

Find out for yourself. Think out of the box and past the flesh.

ok - well if we leave the box of there even being a god, one power in the universe that sees and governs all things, then it's easy to critically read scripture and see it for what it is - a dungeons and dragons story that's often frightfully dull.

when one does this it's easy to see that real phenomena held up as proof of a god's existence are easily explained away by mental illness and bad weather through the eyes the israelites - people who didn't have the intellectual ammo to explain what they experienced.

we can think past the flesh, true. but that's all there is, so it's kind of a waste of time.

(and it's annoying.when people like this pink-shirted closet-case play around with the old testament, especially the book of leviticus, not considering that it was written by syphilitic fruitcakes who would go into the desert for 40 days/nights and come back claiming they'd seen g-d. is a person like that taken seriously in modern times?)

Try thinking out of your own box.

I bet god's buttcrack is a siht to behold. Wonder what on of his logs look like.

Scatology aside, an image need not be a perfect replica.

Demophobe, I think He's asking a rhetorical question based on a former post by a fundie that equates being made in God's image with sticking your willy into a vag*ina. I am not a Christian, and I view God as pure Spirit. A lot of non-Christian have the tools to meditate on God and Her nature.

Peace

What has proven that flesh is all there is? Certainly not science! Quantum phsyics teaches the exact opposite as a matter of fact - that nothing, in its "micro" state, is even composed of matter. Outside the macro scale which we are so accustomed to seeing as reality, physics is beginning to teach us that matter is the illusion - not absence of matter.

Peace

if god existed, why would it even have a gender? what if it was just some sort of magical force, and not some quasi-corporeal being that points his finger from the thunderheads?

Not to impose gender roles on God, but the Good Book does use "He", so I do likewise.
