|
|
Just looking for some advice and different thoughts from people who know about computers.....
If I were to have a computer built for me - but didn't know much about computers -but I want to have the BEST computer....
and if I had 1 million to spend on having it built (just the CPU - forget about the monitor, keyboard, mouse etc etc).... only talking about the actual CPU itself....
and if I wanted the computer to be built with the best speed - for games...
and also the best graphics and sound card for games and movies...
but also the best memory for storage of movies, games, pictures, documents... etc
what would I ask for - when I tell the specifications on what I want in the computer when I have it built....?
can anyone offer advice to me - so I can just walk into the shop and say to the computer-builder-guy - "I want a computer built and I want to to have this, and this, and this, and this, and this.... (etc) |

You'll probably be able to just ask for specific parts and get a good computer made. Of course you'll want to do some research in advance.
My advice is to wait until Demophobe or CubanLord post. Those guys have thier shit together. |

1,000,000 won for a CPU? Wow, go for the new Quad Core Extreme or whatever it is that's sitting at about 950,000 or so on Danawa.
But if you mean 1,000,000 for the tower (CPU, RAM, MB, etc.) that's a completely different story. What are you using the computer for? That'll make a definite difference in what to get.

I'll be putting together a new computer and assembling it myself (with help from demophobe) sometime in August. My current budget is sitting at 1.7million and I don't need monitors, so I'm hoping to get a kick ass system. |

Thanks for the reply- yes I mean 1,000,000 for the tower (CPU, RAM, MB, etc.) (I already have the 32" LCD monitor, keyboard, mouse, printer, 5.1-surround sound speakers etc etc - I thought CPU meant the same as tower - but I don't know much about computer analogy....
I only want to buy the tower-thingy -but I want ALMOST the best... for games that need high-speed, best graphics etc... but also for fast-and huge storage of pic/document/movie/file storage - without slowing the computer down - by having so many files, programs, games stored on it....
I also want it to be compatible with my speakers (5.1 surround) but also so I can use my microphone on-chat without it interfering with the speakers etc....

Yes - I already have the 32" LCD monitor, keyboard, mouse, printer, speakers etc etc - I thought 1 million was enough... but I also want a kick ass (wow we can use that word on here?) system....
I wish to have it made/purchase it in 3 weeks maybe 2007-02-13 approx. date.... but I am a person who hates buying things online etc etc - I want to go to a place (in person), see and talk to the person who is going to build it - (in-person) make sure they understand exactly what I want and hand over the cash in person to them to have them build it for me (in person) - then pick the finished product up from them (in person)....
so if you are one of those people... or you can tell me exactly what I should ask for when I approach one of those people (I was thinking techno-mart) as thats close to my apartment.... although I will travel further.... I would really like - a list of things I should ask for..... |

But I'm not going for a gaming computer. I need one that can handle video editing, photoshop and in the future I'm going to expand to 4 monitors from my current two so I'll need a dual video card set up as well. I expect it to be expensive and that I won't be able to get everything when I first buy it so expandability is important. |

OK, here goes, but I'm sure CL or demo will have better suggestions...
MB: ASUS P5B Deluxe STCOM - 171.000
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E6400 (2.13Ghz) - 217.000
RAM: PNY PC2-6400 1GB (x2) or similar - 222.000
HDD: Hitachi T7K500 (320GB) - 78.000
ODD: Pioneer DVD+-RW (DL) DVR111-BK - 45.000
VGA: XFX GeForce 7600GT Triple X Zalman - 145.000
Case and power: pick one - 100.000
TOTAL: 840.000
I'm probably not the best a putting stuff together, and having just re-read your last post, you'll definitely need more RAM and a better VGA than what I put up there. But this would probably be a good starting point.
Of course, if you can, you should try to order some Corsair RAM from the states. It's better from what I've read and I can't find it here in Korea.
Good luck and let us know how it goes.
