I am going to Gangnam tonight and want to buy some clothes. Can the ladies suggest any stores? I like vintage-y clothing and unique stuff.

Look at the buildings around town. Korea doesn't do vintage nor unique.

Erm in one of the buildings in Dongdaemun (the one with the cinema) my friend got some good vintage stuff. Also in apgu/sinsa there are some places. But I'm a guy, don't know for women, but probably similar.

I've seen a lot of vintage stuff come from japan from the boat to busan, and then get sent up to seoul. so there is different looking stuff, just have to search.

That's not true. I've found some clothing shops around Daechi that have really interesting clothes that are pretty unique.

All power to you.

I still stand by my original statement. The only decent clothes I've bought in my four years here has been at foreign stores, Muji (Japanese) and Mango (Spanish).

In my opinion, Korean clothing tends to lack originality and is also poorly made.

Well, I guess I wasn't really particularly Korean-made clothing, but just stores that sell clothes that aren't too trendy, hanbok-inspired, or for ten year olds.

CLG: Where are those stores you speak of?

Muji is a big store at the lotte complex in jamsil. There's a mango store in coex.

What are the prices like at Muji and Mango? Mango in Europe is dirt cheap, but outside of Europe I've found it OUTRAGEOUSLY expensive.

Mango here is expensive and for me, it's hard to find a dress, 'cause usually te sizes are too big. Like their smallest in Apgujeong the last time I went was a size 4. I wear 0-2. I once spent 30,000 won there on one of those chain belts with thingies hanging on it and it started falling apart the first time I wore it, and the second time I wore it, it became trash! Poor quality. I found one cute size 2 asymmetrical miniskirt there once. It's the best thing I ever got there. Not much of a Mango fan.

The Andy Warhol tribute is very nice and interesting, but not for clothing.

I was just in Gangnam tonight doing some shopping. The shops in Gangnam station have trendy, as well as unique stuff. I have a bubble skirt that I got in Osaka, but in Gangnam tonight, I found a fabulous bubble dress! I also got some of those tunic blouses that can be worn as a dress or over skinny jeans/leggings.

I know!!!! Mango (and Zara ) are considered in Spain to be like "wear-it-once-then-throw-it-in-the-garbage" brands, and the price there reflects it. Outside of Europe they seem to be granted almost designer label status. Any thoughts about Muji?
