Do you mean the original version as sung by Blondie? It was their big reunion hit a few years back.

Yeah, that was sung by Debbie Harry (of Blondie) a number of years ago, as oneiros said.
A good song that I'm rapidly going off now that every student is singing it and my wife has it as her cell-phone ring.

Interesting foot-note. I was playing some other 'Blondie' songs the other day, the same songs I have always played, and my wife has listened to for a number of years (with no real interest). I mentioned that these are sung by 'Debbie Harry', who also performed 'Maria', originally. Suddenly she took note, and is now an over-night fan. Confused

I believe the song is her fault:

Unfortunately, I hear it several times a day via my brother-in-law's cell phone. Luckily, he usually answers on the first ring.

As for a better, and more palatable, version...

there was another thread about this a couple weeks back.

Besides the Blondie version, there are TWO Korean versions:
1) the one from the movie with 김아중, who also sings the song
2) the live version by Loveholic

Loveholic's version is better. The lead singer is way cuter and has a way better voice.

Both versions can be found on Youtube.

Yeah, I hate it when a decent song gets played to death. My boss has that song as his cell-phone ring, too. Rolling Eyes

I love Loveholic! The lead singer's voice is so unique and hypnotizing.

Mariaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa Ave Maria.... Does anyone know what the lady is singing? I keep hearing the song at PC bongs, and I did think it sounded like a rip off of a Western song I heard before. I still like the sound of the song. If anyone understands what she is saying either from your wives' explanations, I would like to hear what I am being inundated with.....

I have to say that although it is greatly overplayed (several times a night in the same bar), the Korean version by 김아중 is better than the original version, IMHO.

The meaning of the lyrics seems to have been changed, although I haven't really paid much attention to them.

this is the thrash scong of the winter!! as koreans do they will thrash this song until everyone is SICK of it! and cant bare it any longer!!

remember summer of 2002 when all you could hear was that BROWNEYES song everywhere you went.. its the same thing..
I still prefer the version that came out about 10 years ago.. it was big in korea thats probably why they ripped it off, doubt any korean knows who BLondie is..

anyway its from that MOVIE which is big in korea at the moment..

put up with it people. it will be played at least another 3-6 months everywhere you go...
