It was at the New Orleans Zoo before Katrina.

I was with my wife, my sister, my brother-in-law, my son, my neice, and my nephew.

My brother-in-law is named Chris.

He's a pipe-fiiter and oil-field trash like me.

So we are in the zoo, and my sister goes crazy.

"Jesus Christ, Chun (Chun is my wife's name)," my sister said. "That's Jude Law. He's the sexiest man in the world."

I looked at the boy. Sexy? Who knows? To me, he looked like the guys I used to pick on in high school. What women consider sexy is beyond me.

"Who's Jude Law?" I asked.

"Kevin, he's an actor," my sister said all serious. "People Magazine said he's the sexiest man alive!"

Now it was winter in New Orleans. The sexiest man alive was wearing a cap and a coat. He had a blonde-headed scarecrow by his side.

Being New Orleans oil-field trash, Chris and I started making fun of the guy. Now you guys know I'm a foolish idiot. But Chris is even worse.

"Hey now, sexy boy," we kept saying to him.

He started getting pissed. But he couldn't fight us. Hell, I'd have broken that little English twig in two. And Chris is two times tougher than me.

"You Yanks have no class. Why don't you just go bugger off?"

I guess that's English speak for go screw yourselves.

His girlfriend said, "Don't let them bother you. Ignore the idiots."

She had an English accent, too.

I felt guilty.

I said this: "Look. We're just busting your hump. Don't take offense. My sister really loves you. God bless."

The little limey took my hand and shook it.

This is what he said:

"No harm, mate."

I forgot about that till today. I have HBO and Showtime. I watched the new version of a flick called Alfie.

I'm old school. Back in the day, Alfie starred Michael Caine--who could easily pass for oil-field trash.

Anyway, the new Alfie stars this cat Jude Law. I couldn't believe my eyes. That was the cat that my brother-in-law and I were teasing.

And he gave a fine performance.

He's still a little twig that I could break over my knee. What you chicks find sexy is beyond me.

Rent Enemy at the Gates--great flick. Jude Law gives a good performance in it.

SF,

I miss traditional Greek tsiparo (homemade ouzo).

Since we're talking about elaborate fantasy lives: I went back in time and punched Hitler right in his dumb face.

And then after that, me, Jimi Hendrix, and Mozart rescued Jesus from the Romans.

The we started a band and we play every Tuesday in Hongdae.

I worked at Mountain Lake Hotel where they filmed Dirty Dancing. I worked there while they filmed it. I was thisclose to Jerry Orbach (played Baby's dad and was on Law and Order). He was a very nice man. The dude that played the owner of the hotel was an absolute lush. He was drunk ALL of the time. Sat beside of Matthew Broderick (The Producers and he's married to Sarah Jessica Parker) at the General Store there. But at that time, he was a "nobody" and I just wasn't really impressed. I watched them film the whole thing and it was totally cool!!

I had lunch with Kim Young Sam. He's not very popular with the general populace, but I think that is par for the course considering the others who have held the position.

How the heck did you get to have lunch with a former Korean president? Shocked

Friend of a friend worked for him and set it up. He was pretty cool, and his English was basically good. It was at his house. Pictures of him and Clinton, Gorbachev, etc. He told a few stories about his administration. An interesting time.

As far as I'm concerned, the best performance of Jude Law's career was as the sex robot Gigolo Joe in AI.

It's too bad everything else about that movie sucked dog balls.

Cool. It's not easy being a president in South Korea. The people blame everything on the president.

That was the worst Steven Spielberg movie I've seen. IMO, Jude Law was better in Talented Mr. Ripley with Matt Damon.

Everything that is, that can't be blamed on Japan or America Smile

Becky, I can't believe you doubt the veracity of my tale.

And there's more good news.

I might have the outside chance of making fun of two more pretty boys.

First, Brad Pitt recently moved to New Orleans. This is how I picture the day. Brad and Angelina are strolling through the French Quarter.

They see me and a fat obnoxious drunk Honduran. That would be my brother-in-law.

And what do we do? We make fun of them.

I also have the outside chance of making fun of John Bon Jovi. He's big into that Habitat for Humanity. He has an actual street named after him just a few miles from my house. Why? He bought someone a house on that very street.

Plus the president of his fan club is an algebra teacher at the high school where I used to work.

I would really love to make fun of that pretty boy. I think he's a good man, but he needs to be punished for releasing that horrible song She's a Little Runaway.

By golly, I'm just the man for the job.

Trinity,

I don't think Matthew Broderick was in the film Dirty Dancing. I think you may be mistaking him for Lonny Price? He was the nerdy character who wanted to be with Baby. You can see pictures of him here http://broadwayworld.com/galleryperson.cfm?personid=3564 He does sort of resemble Matthew Broderick, especially back in the day.
