Its the middle of winter and everyone is starting to get tired of the cold (and maybe the snow); friends are gone on vacation to warm and sunny climes and were stuck up here in Northeast Asia; our families are on the other side of the world. Its hard being alone on major holidays like Groundhog Day. At least at Christmas there are some Christmas lights and the occasional carol wafting out of a PA system in the bars to help get you through, but on Friday, no one at school will understand, truly understand, the ancient and hallowed traditions of Groundhog Day pancakes for breakfast and giving hot house flowers. Itll be a bleak day, for sure.

Try to buck up, folks.

Merry Groundhog Day!

Yes, it will definitely be tough -- but you still have time to plan something special, Ya-ta Boy.
In preparation for this magical day, I have captured the largest c0ckroach in my apartment and outfitted him with a groundhog costume. Just before daybreak on the big day, I will dump his jar upside down in the middle of my floor. Then I will flood him with light. If he runs away, six more weeks of winter.
Well, I'm glad I just had my heating oil topped off...

Cold? Snow? We're in Korea, not Siberia. We're lucky to be having such a warm winter.

It's a comfort knowing I'm not the only one who cherishes tradition.

My mom is just a master at making groundhog-shaped pancakes, but I've never mastered the paws. My paws end up looking like boobs poking out of the chest. Embarrassing, really. Throwing my failures up against the wall gets my holiday celebrations off to a poor start.

Does anyone know any hotels that serve proper pancakes on Groundhog Day?

princess,

Had you spent 2nd Grade paying attention rather than looking in your mirror, you would have learned to read. Oh well. Too late now.

With all due respect, Mr. (???) midian3x, who the heck cares about a Bill Murray movie? I certainly don't. We are talking about the real thing, a sacred mid-winter festival of celebration and joy. A Hollywood ripoff starring a second-rate (at the very best!) actor is a desecration of the deeply held veneration of the cosmic design of the universe. Or something like that.

Please, a bit more respect for the real world and less bowing and scraping to Hollywood rip-offs.

For the REAL Groundhog Day devotees:

Happy Groundhog Eve!!!!!!!!!!!! (On this THURSDAY night--please note illiterate bong-ja's.)
