I am so angry because I didn't get my ARC card in the mail at school today and my coworker with an F4 got hers today. I guess immi hates E2 people. We applied on the same day, too, together at the immi office. Crying or Very sad

Because you're princess, immi people want to keep it a little longer to admire your picture. Wink

What does anyone USE their ARC for once they get it? I never use mine for anything...let alone as a means of ID.

1. showing it to undercover immi officers when they demand to see it.
2. at the bank, when making a wire transfer.

Also, it's the law that you have 90 days to get one after receiving your E-2. If you don't get one in 90 days, your E-2 will become void and your school will have to send you to Japan AGAIN and you will have to do everything all over again. That's the main reason you need one. I got mine today by the way!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm pretty sure that is not true. ANYone here for longer than 3 months (no matter what visa) needs to get an ARC. I know it's a fine if you don't, but I've never heard of the visa being voided.

Link?

It's either that or probably end up paying heavy duty fine.

I'm not totally sure, but I think I saw ttompatz say on here that the visa will become void if you don't get this ARC in 90 days. He knows his stuff, too, so I believe him.

It's required when using the Korean "checks," for purchases at retailers, when opening bank accounts, and for exchanging your man Won for Korean "checks," so that your wallet doesn't explode when transporting currency for a large purchase.

It's also required by immigration for migrant workers like ESL teachers.
