With your aggressive macho attitude, they'd be more inclined to hang with you. |
Yet YOU are the one who admitted to hanging around with them. |

Who are 'them'...? I presume you mean my Arab friends, most of whom utterly despise Al Quaeda?
The sickos in Al Queda are likely to have far more in common with you than me. |

So not all of them "utterly despise Al Quaeda" ? What are the others' positions?

The other option is to be like Big Bird and to back AQ with all of your heart and soul. |

I know 2 young Arab men who sympathise with violent solutions. They are not my friends but acquaintances. They regularly end up in debate with Arab friends of mine, who disapprove of aggressive resolutions. They always remind me of the Westerners I debate with, who supported the Iraq war, or the Israeli bombardment of Lebanon. They use the same rationale, the same logic, the same thinking process. They have so much in common with the hawks on this forum, whose lack of respect for human life I can not fathom. They also share that macho pride, and desire for revenge that I heard from too many Westerners after 911. They share that same inability to empathise with the 'other.' They are all birds of a feather, both the Arabs and the Westerners who believe that such violence can be so easily justified. In another life, they would be firm friends with Jinju here. |

BigBird:
Now you got me singing "What the world needs now, is love sweet love..."
Next I'll be humming some bars of "I gave my love a cherry, that had no stone..."
Topped off with "If you're going to San Francisco, you're gonna meet some gentle people there..." |

That's kind of like asking if you have any Ulster Unionist friends who are in Opus Dei. |

Got you reminicing about your misspent acid soaked youth eh? Well, if you have a nice voice, you may do all the singing you like. However, if your voice is an old croaky device, long past its prime, and your 'singing' is punctuated by a constant hacking rheumy cough...please confine it to the shower, you cheeky old codger. |
